Tactical Coffee, Inc. is a family-owned and operated business in Spartanburg, South Carolina since 1984. The company specializes in producing high quality coffee for the military and law enforcement communities. Tactical Coffee produces both ground beans and soluble beans. Their coffee is sold in local convenience stores, military/law enforcement barracks, post offices, and online. The origins of Tactical Coffee can be traced back to 1984 when Jay Sauer founded the company with his wife Lori Sauer. Jay was a former enlisted soldier who had served in the United States Army's 82nd Airborne Division where he learned about coffee production methods from an army friend. After leaving the army, Jay decided to start his own business making high-quality coffee for civilians andMilitary personnel throughout South Carolina. Today, Tactical Coffee has over 20 employees including brewers Brian Hickey and John King; roasters Chris Kostopoulos and Donny McCullough; as well as sales representatives Tom Lutzinger and Jeff Shearer. In addition to their products being sold statewide they also produce unique blends that reflect the needs of their customers located throughout South Carolina (e.g., "Olive Branch" blend). Tactical Coffee began operations with two grinders - a burr grinder called the Big Ben which used Mada Coffeeproof grounds while their original bean grinder was called the Little Ben which used 100% Arabica beans In 2006 they introduced a new line of grinders - the TM5 which uses French press shotshells as its primary grinding mechanism In 2009 they introduced their first espresso machine - a La Marzocco MP1 . This espresso machine allows them to produce up to 4 different types of espresso drinks including Lungo Latte available only through Tactical Coffee . In 2013 they added an automatic milk frother - this will allow customers to enjoy smoothies or lattes without having to add milk manually
