It wasn't until World War II that people began importing large quantities of Italian roasted coffee from Italy so that these unique flavors could be enjoyed by Allied troops stationed overseas (at home). Rock Hill is located in the southeastern corner of South Carolina and is bordered by Greer to the west, Pickens County to the north, and Laurens County to the east. The population was 14,724 at the 2010 census. It has been a center for slavery and free black life in this region for centuries. The city was founded on April 12, 1770 by planters who named it after their home town of Rockingham in England. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Rock Hill from Georgia in 1775. They were part of a group that included General James Moore and Colonel John Forbes who attempted to cross the Catawba River into North Carolina on horseback but were successful only if they could find a friend or family member who would guide them across. When they failed to find anyone willing to help them, they decided to settle down and start a new life in what is now Rock Hill. The first African American residents of Rock Hill arrived in 1807 when one group of freed slaves crossed over from South Carolina on an ox cart with two families accompanying them. For many years, Rock Hill was known as a slave-owning community where white landowners used slaves as their personal property. However, starting around 1830, there began an gradual change which saw more people coming into town under contracts that allowed them work as farmers or mechanics while also receiving free education and other benefits. Eventually, most of these workers became independent citizens who started businesses along with their white counterparts within the community. In fact, during Reconstruction (1865-1877), Rock hill had one of the most robust social systems among southern African American communities because it functioned as both a center for political activism and economic development despite constant discrimination faced by its inhabitants. Eventually however, conditions changed once again when Confederate forces invaded South Carolina duringthe war which led directly to Bloody Sunday (April 11th 1865) when Union soldiers gunned down dozens of unarmed black men near downtown Rock Hill before fleeing back into North Carolina without freeing any prisoners or destroying any property。 This event signified an end for freedom marches through central South Carolina by blacks despite continued resistance from white locals throughout Reconstruction period Aftermath: There followed extensive reconstruction efforts which included rebuilding homes lost during fighting as well as creating opportunities for local Blacks through various programs such as education and employment opportunities; however racial tension still persisted until today due largely to poverty rates amongst Black residents contrasted against those enjoyed by whites living within walking distance of town limits
