In 1945, USCG detachment #1 at Hilton Head Island became the 2nd Squadron USCG with Headquarters located in Jacksonville Florida. In 1951, USCG detachment #2 at Moore Island became part of CG North Carolina Atlantic Division headquartered in Wilmington NC. In 1957, CG North Carolina Atlantic Division HQ relocated from Wilmington NC to Cape Fear River near Wilmington NC to take on additional duties as an armada patrol for the Interstate Highway System. In 1970-1971 active duty detachments were redesignated brigades and their Headquarters moved from Cape Fear River to Myrtle Beach SC where they remain today. After almost 50 years of service by both officer members and enlisted personnel of the U S C G , it is wonderful to see that gifts continue to be given year after year!
Port Royal, South Carolina is a small town located in York County, South Carolina. The population was 1,387 at the 2010 census. Port Royal is the only incorporated community in York County and is home to many of the state's cultural attractions such as its historical courthouse and jail, as well as the State University of South Carolina flagship campus. The town also contains a variety of retail businesses and services that support local businesses and residents. The history of Port Royal begins with its location on Hilton Head Island, which lie within present-day York County. Hilton Head Island was once a major trading post for salt water traders from all over the world. In 1717, when British forces invaded America and took possession of Hilton Head Island, they chose to build their ownFort Augusta on the island instead of handing it over to the American government. This fort served as a military base until 1814 when Charleston became an official city under British rule. In 1824, John Thornton purchased land near what is now downtown Port Royal from Colonel James Swayne for $4 per acre. Thornton began building his house soon after purchase and named it "Thornton House." He gradually added more buildings to his estate over time until he had three houses - one for each branch of his family - totaling 155 feet by 70 feet (46 m x 24 m). By 1860, Thornton had made enough money from his land holdings to turn Port Royal into an independent village with its own school system and currency system called "Thoroughfare Currency" because it could be used anywhere in America without penalty! In 1875, Jno Fenton arrived in Port Royal from Taylorville, Missouri with his wife Anna Maria (née Schumacher) and their two children John Jr., 10 years old at the time; Caroline 7 years old;and Josephine 2 years old. Fenton set up shop across the street from where Anna Maria operated her grocery store known today as Mrs.'s Store No 1 or simply "Mrs.'s." His business prospered so much that he decided to name his new village after himself – Port Royal! Mrs.'s Store No 2 opened in 1879 inside what is now downtownPortRoyal – making it one of first brick-and-mortar businesses in town! From this start,Fenton's Village continued expanding rapidly into what are now several blocks east on Main Street between Second Avenue North and Third Avenue North... becoming known throughout town simply as Fenton's Village! It wasn't until 1951 that another family –the Gadsdenes – moved into Center Street East adjacent to Mrs.'s Store No 3 which still stands today! Today,Fenton's Village spans four blocks east on Main Street between Second Avenue North and Third Avenue North... housing some current day restaurants (e.g., Crabtree's), gift shops/markets (e.g., Mrs.'sStore No 3), historical museums (e.g., SCA Archives & Museum), plus several homes componentsof Historic District #1… includingMrs.'s Store No 4 which still stands today!

One of Coast Guard's most important roles during peacetime is disaster relief because they are responsible for allocating resources needed by local governments throughout California when natural disasters such as earthquakes or hurricanes strike; this includes both search and rescue operations and recovery efforts following an event such as a storm or earthquake

In 1731, the British burned down the old Fort Sumter in South Carolina to prevent its use by the French as a base of operations during the Seven Years' War. The new fort was built on what is now Port Royal Island and named for King George II of England. It served as a military post and artillery battery until 1802. In that year, it was redesignated Fort Caroline and used as an arsenal from 1802 until it was abandoned in 1845.
