One of my favorites has to be Roastery & Coffee's Ethiopian Kaldi Bichir. Not only is it a fantastic cup of coffee, but the whole process from roasting to serving is unique and delicious. One of the first places to roast specialty coffee in South Carolina was The Olde School Coffee House on Church Street in Orangeburg. This spot served up some amazing beans from some top roasters including Peet's, Ars Electronica, and even Avenue Coffee. Over time, other local cafes followed suit and today there are several great options for java lovers in town. If you're looking for an incredible cup of joe with minimal effort (or if you just want to try something new), then head over to one of these fine establishments: 24 Hour Coffee Company on Forest Road; The Gilded Cage on Fountain Drive; or The Little Bean shop on Elm Street in Orangeburg. The town has experienced a number of significant changes over time - including becoming an industrial center during World War II due to its strategic location at two points along Interstate 95; being unsuccessfully considered for designation as a national city by President George H.W. Bush in 1988; and experiencing rapid growth following Hurricane Katrina which destroyed much property and infrastructure within town limits. Today, Orangeburg is one of several small towns located along I-95A that continue to experience high levels of economic development due to their proximity to major metropolitan areas across Georgia and Florida
