Myrtle Beach is a town located in the US state of South Carolina. It was founded in 1837, and it became an official city in 1960. The town has a population of over 102,000 people as of 2019. The Myrtle Beach Army National Guard has been deployed to various places around the world since its creation in 1917. For many years, the unit was stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, but it relocated to Myrtle Beach in 2013 afterFort Bragg reopened following a closure by the Defence Department. The unit currently consists of 3 battalions and 2 companies totaling about 9500 soldiers. The battalion that currently resides at Myrtle Beach Army National Guard Base is known as Company C, which traces its origins back to 1917 when it was established as Battalion A (later known as Company C) within the 4th Infantry Regiment (USArmy). In 1951, Battalion C was redesignated 1st Battalion/5th Marines and re-designated company C later that year when it joined Marine Corps Reserve Unit #3 at Camp Pendleton CA In 1970-71 1st Battalion/5th Marines deployed to Rangoon AB Thailand with 5th Marine Division during Vietnam War while also serving concurrently with United States Air Force units at Andersen airbase Thailand . Upon return from deployment CompanyC was redesignated 2nd/7th Marines and served with Marine Corp detachment USS Harry S Truman from 1971-1975 before returning home for brief period attached to US Naval Forces Korea (ROK Navy) prior to arrival at McCoy AFB Okinawa As part of Japan Defense Agency’s contribution pursuant to Mutual Assistance Treaty between JDA and JAPANIn 1978 Companies D through F were activated within 1st Battalion/4th Marines undergoing conversion from Coast Artillery units into Infantry units being designated BnD(I), later changed again To CoC2/7Marines due process changes associated with World Wide Anti dive bombing campaign initiated by USAF during early 1980s Withdrawal of Japanese forces beginning in late 1984 completed relieved by all Japanese troops remaining on Okinawa – this left only United States Military presence on Okinawa until 1998 When Japan signed SelfDefense Treaty bringing all military forces under JDA control

Myrtle Beach is a town in York County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 12,811 at the 2010 census. Myrtle Beach is the only city in South Carolina with a population over 10,000 residents. It became an official city on December 6, 1907. Before being designated as a city, Myrtle Beach had a post office called "Myrtle Creek." In 1868 the Post Office of York County was established and it served Myrtle Creek until 1895 when it was moved to its current location at 411 W Broad Street. The first settler in what would become Myrtle Beach were two brothers named John and James Goodloe who arrived on horseback from North Carolina in 1859. They founded what would become known as Goodloe's Landing on the Savannah River near present-day downtown Myrtle Beach. From this point forward there was continual growth of the community because many people wanted to find new land to grow crops and build homes. In 1881 William Humes purchased 2,000 acres (10 km2) of land east of downtown for $1 per acre ($50 total). This parcel became known as "Humes Park" and remained undeveloped until 1918 when it was donated by Drury Hines to help finance his campaign for mayor of Jacksonville, Florida which he won by 3 votes over incumbent Samuel Gibbs. On April 14, 1907, Mayor Drury Hines dedicated Market Square which included both City Hall and the old jail located on Market Street between Second and Third Streets NW which housed local law enforcement officials until 1984 when that building was demolished to make way for the newly constructed City Hall Annex/Courthouse complex which currently houses the York County Courthouse PA system that replaced an aging diesel engine courthouse system originally installed in 1961-1962
