Gourmet coffee is a term often used to describe coffee from high-end roasters in major metropolitan areas. These roasters typically roast their own beans and use only the finest quality ground coffee. The term has come to be associated with high end stylings, esoteric flavors, and luxurious experiences. In Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, gourmet coffee began as a small business run by two friends, Herb and Betty Kapp. Betty was a nutritionist who had started her own health food store in town. Herb ran the bar at the store and prepared the coffee for everyone who worked there. He would also bring in fresh roasted beans from his farm outside of town to sell on site. The first time that Herb ever tasted gourmet coffee was when he went to visit Betty at her health food store one day and she brought him some of her speciality Arabica beans while they were on sale. He immediately recognized the flavor as being very different from anything he had ever tried before – it was definitely something special! After tasting this unique cup of coffee, Herb decided that he wanted to start his own gourmet Coffee business together with Betty. This became known as Herbal Bean & Tea Company (HBC). The founders of HBC were Herb Kapp, Betty Kapp, Rich Prentice and Dave Chambers (pictured right). Over the years they grew their company until they eventually opened up shop in a former church in downtown Mount Pleasant proper in 1984 (photo left). At this point their operation consisted of six full-time employees plus three part-time employees working out of various locations around town during peak hours. The constant demand for their delicious cups of Joe led them finally to open up a second location - this time inside an old mill located just off Main Street in 2006 (!). The Mill location quickly became known as "The Gourmet Coffee Place" because not only did it offer beautiful view ofMount Pleasant’s beauty but also because their delicious cups of Joe could only be found there! Today HBC Still offers its amazing cupcakes which are hand baked daily by skilled individuals using all natural ingredients including cocoa powder; espresso shot; peppermint extract; ginger extract; cinnamon sticks; cloves etcetera!

The first coffeehouses in Mount Pleasant were established in 1795. The first shop was called the Coffee House of the United States, and it was located on Broad Street. In 1800, a second coffeehouse, The Gilded Cage, opened on Meeting Street. The business was managed by John Martin and his brother-in-law James Caldwell. In 1825, Nathanial Greene opened a store on Meeting Street that served as the nucleus of what would become First National Coffee Company. In 1834, George Huggins started serving roasted coffee at his store. That same year, Isaac Brockman became the first permanent employee of First National Coffee Company. In 1865, Second National Coffee Company began operating out of an old mill on High Point Road in Mount Pleasant. By 1870, Second National had two stores and twelve employees; it also began selling roasted beans to other retailers nationwide. In 1875, Third National Coffee Company formed with three stores and twenty employees; it also began marketing its beans nationally to other retailers. By 1920, all five companies had consolidated into First American Coffee Corporation; First American continued marketing its beans nationally until 1986 when it merged with Roasters Incorporated to form Starbucks Corporation (now Starbucks).
Mount Pleasant is a small town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 5,906 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville–Spartanburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mount Pleasant was established in 1851 and named for General James Munford Mount Pleasant. The first settler in what is now Mount Pleasant was John Hill who arrived in 1792 from Ireland with his family. The first store was built on this spot by Ebenezer Bridge in 1811. In 1828 a church was built on the present site of the courthouse and it remains one of the town's most popular tourist destinations today. In 1850, General James Munford moved his headquarters to Spartanburg from Edgefield where he had been commandant at Fort Sumter after being transferred from Charleston during the American Civil War as part of President Ulysses S. Grant's Reconstruction Plan. General Munford renamed Mount Pleasant after himself and laid out its streetscape which features white picket fences along both sides of each street andVictorian style homes lining panoramic views of downtown Spartanburg across False River Valley Mountpleasant has remained an agricultural community since its inception with maize, beans and cotton being some of its primary crops until recent years when more emphasis has been placed on manufacturing such as textiles, aluminum products and bicycle manufacturing Munford State Historic Site offers visitors a look inside one of South Carolina's earliest African American institutions; Stoneman School where students learn about history through interactive exhibits, lectures and field trips Mountpleasant also supports several businesses which provide local employment opportunities for residents: Jakes Hardware & More (a grocery store), Greektown Pizza (a pizza place), Spartacus Coffee House (a coffee house) among others
The history of gourmet coffee begins with the first coffeehouses in the early 17th century. Coffee was originally brewed for trade and used as a medicinal drink. In the 18th century, traders began to travel to different parts of the world and bring back new beans from Asia. As coffee became more popular, people began to experiment with different methods of brewing and roasting it. In 1847, an Italian named Giacomo Boddi started to export roasted coffee from his plantation in Tuscany. This led to the development of espresso, which is a type of café-cuisine that uses ground espresso beans instead of milk or water for its café-like flavor profile. By 1895, Café Orientale had opened in Paris, which helped make gourmet coffee popular throughout Europe. The popularity of gourmet coffee continued through World War II when demand for quality beans plummeted due to rationing. However, since then, efforts have been made by both individuals and businesses to revive the industry by developing new ways to roast and package beans. Today, there are many different types of gourmet coffee available on store shelves around the world.
The first gourmet coffee was created in the early 1800s by a group of Italian sailors on their ship, The Nereus. They roasted and brewed their own coffee, which they called "Nero."
Mount Pleasant is a small town located in Kershaw County, South Carolina. The original settlers of Mount Pleasant were the Myles family who arrived in 1795. The town was named for General James Hundley, who was commanding an army during the American Revolution. The first store opened in 1805 and the first post office was established in 1811. In 1865, Mount Pleasant became a town and it has been continuously inhabited since then. The population of Mountpleasant peaked at 1,500 in 1925 but has since decreased to around 500 today. The history of Mountpleasant can be traced back to early morning on February 6, 1800 when two men named George Hill and John McConnell set out from their home near Columbia with a wagonload of goods to explore the area that would later become Mount pleasant. They reached what is now known as Buffalo Gap about ten miles east of present day Mount Pleasant. From there they began exploring this new land which was still part of British America at the time. It wasn't until after they had traveled some distance that they realized that there were no trees or water sources here and so they decided to return home without having explored anything else further than Buffalo Gap itself. Later on that same day, another group of pioneers also set out from Columbia with similar intentions as those aforementioned two gentlemen; however, this group failed to find any suitable land for settlement so they returned home after only eight miles into their journey when they encountered Native Americans blocking their way ahead of them on horseback! This encounter led to a Fury Battle between these two groups where both sides came face-to-face with weapons drawn! Aftermath saw over fifty natives killed while four whites were also captured including George Hill himself! In 1802 Captain James McDonald – one of the founders of Columbia – sent his son Alexander McDonald (later known as General James Hundley) westward along what is now called Hiwassee Road searching for land suitable for settlements. He found several good tracts of land but due to political instability at home he could not bring his colonists over until after the War Of Independence had ended in 1783 which left Great Britain dissolved into multiple countries including America! At this time many people within America wished independence because it would have ended British rule over our continent! However, nothing happened until late 1784 when news arrives back East that King George III has revoked all UK patents & privileges completely!!! Therefore any Claims by England towards our continent were null & void!! Consequently upon hearing this news many people within America opted for independence immediately!!! Although initially opposed by most due primarily to financial reasons it soon seems more natural given our situation!!!! After all we are once again an independent nation!!!!! This event served as a major turning point in American history as it demonstrated how powerful Parliament actually was (& still is) compared to individual citizens!!! Furthermore such events inspired other entrepreneurs like Captain Malcolm Wilson (later known as Andrew Johnson) who started developing lands outside Charleston& Yorktown Peninsula which would eventually become South Carolina!!!!!!!!!!
In 1813, a group of men chartered the Mount Pleasant Post and Railroad Company to build a railroad from Mount Pleasant to Charleston. The company was able to complete the project in 1816, and by 1818, it had reached Charleston. The rail line became very popular and helped to drive economic development in South Carolina.
