When Mount Pleasant was founded in 1837, it was the most northerly town in the United States. The area now known as Mount Pleasant had been inhabited by indigenous peoples for many centuries and coffee beans were a common trade item. In 1865, Cornelius Vanderbilt founded his own plantation in what is now Mount Pleasant, and began to grow coffee. In 1887, Dutchman Hendrik Janse van Rensburg bought a share of Vanderbilt's plantation and began to produce coffee commercially. Van Rensburg's beans became well-known throughout the world and he is considered one of the first commercial producers of Sumatra coffee. Mount Pleasant grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its location on South Carolina'scoastline. The city developed around its Coffee Fields district which housed many businesses that produced caffeine-based products such as cigars, chocolates, pastries, soap operas, clothing etc. When World War I started in 1914, demand for military supplies increased dramatically across America and production at Coffee Fields soared. During World War II, Coffee Fields continued operation as an army barracks until it closed in 1945 due to bombings from Japan

Mount Pleasant is a small town located in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The population was 3,384 as of the 2010 census. Mount Pleasant is part of the Columbia metropolitan area. It is bordered by Elizabeth City to the north, Gaston to the east, and Lexington to the south. The Town of Mount Pleasant was formed on December 1, 1814 from land that had been donated by Colonel John Pope. The first settler in what is now Mount Pleasant was Major James Aiken who began to build a cabin in 1795. In 1813, Major Aiken married Margaret Williamson and they moved into their cabin until 1830 when they purchased a farm which they named "Mount Pleasant." They were able to expand their farm due to donations from friends and family members including Colonel John Pope and his son-in-law Drury Sellers. In 1839, Captain George Washington Hardee donated twenty acres (8 ha) of land at what is now Mount Pleasant for a public square which would be called "George Washington's Square." On October 22nd 1840, voters approved incorporation of the Village of Mount Pleasant with a population of eighty four people under one administration with fifteen trustees chosen by vote from twelve families living within five miles (18 km) of the village limits. On November 6th 1840 Captian Hardee donated an additional thirty acres (12 ha) for use as agricultural freehold land for seven years with no annual rent or tribute required from anyone living within five miles (18 km) of the boundaries until it should be sold or surrendered by him or her during that time frame—free forever! This acreage became known as "The President's Hill" because it sat atop President Andrew Johnson's presidential mansion during his occupancy in 1865-1868 while he resided at Fort Pillow. This donation set off many events leading up to annexation which included: Captain Hardee's death on February 4th 1841; Court House Annexation Treaty signed on November 14th 1861 between representatives from both Charleston and Mtgpleasant; unanimous referendum passage on December 5th 1860 allowing for annexation without voting; General Order No 12 dated January 2nd 1861 setting forth rules governing annexation ceremonies; finally General Order No 21 dated January 10th 1861 authorizing Vice Admiral David Dixon Porterfield commandant at Fort Moultrie Creek Ferry Bridge #2 throughout all proceedings leading up to formal annexation meeting onJanuary 15th 1861 where boundary changes were made among other things . After three years' negotiation G O N E W H I L E Annexation did not occur until after much more bloodshed than either side initially expected when Confederate forces attempted unsuccessfullyto cross over i n search for supplies near Rocky Point ()near present day Greenville (). Instead Union troops burned down Colored School house just beyond present day Mrs Whites house() adjacent to Fords Mill Road(). As compensation Johnston offered $10 per head tax levied against white citizens alongwith access to all lands within 100 miles (160 km). All residents are still taxed today despite efforts by several generations since then has try(ed)to get them repealed etc...

Coffee beans were ground and brewed to create different types of coffee. The Early American Coffee Company was founded in 1795 in Boston, MA. They roamed the northeast and produced some of the earliest-known espresso drinks. The Dutch started making coffee in Java in 1602. They brought their own recipes with them when they settled there, and began to produce what is now known as Indonesia’s most famous type of coffee – Roasted Java Bean Coffee. In 1810, an Italian named Giovanni Boccanegra set up a business near Rome called “Brocchi” and began to roast his own beans. He became one of Italy’s leading coffee brewers and traders until his death in 1848. Beginning around 1840, Frenchmen started roasted their beans at various locations throughout Paris before selling them across France as well as exporting them all over Europe. Over time, these different roasting styles would influence each other greatly and create a variety of coffees that are now enjoyed around the world. In 1881, an Italian named Luigi Bezzu developed a process for brewing espresso using hot water alone without grounds or milk which allowed him to produce more intense flavors than ever before. This Technological advance led to the first true café au lait (espresso) being made by Café Gruner & Jahrmann on December 5th, 1886 at it’s original location on Rue des Saussaies in Paris; this was also during World War 1! Today we enjoy artisanal coffees from all over the world thanks to advances like technology and globalization! Mount Pleasant is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mount Pleasant has been settlements since the late eighteenth century and first appears on maps in 1781 as "Mt Pleasant". The name may be derived from "mthood" (a place of great renown), or it could be a corruption of "Mount Zion", an Anglican church located in Lexington, Kentucky which may have been where early settlers were drawn for religious reasons. The first white settler in what became Mount Pleasant was Nicholas Hogg, who platted the town in 1781 and named it after his family's home on Great Meadows Creek near present-day Mount Pleasant. By 1800, there were 124 residents living in Mountpleasant and its surrounding area. A post office was established at Mount Pleasant on December 12, 1802 by Samuel Fenton with letters mailed to Wilmington, North Carolina through Yorktown Roads. In 1809–10 Nathaniel Banks donated land to create a public square within the town limits that would serve as a focal point for social events and commerce. In 1830, when Charleston lawyer John Capps purchased some land east ofpresent-day Mount Pleasant and built what later became known as Capps Hill plantation complex (), he developed what would becomeMount Pleasant into one of its most important slave neighborhoods (). At one time or another over 300 slaves lived on Capps Hill; many worked on plantations owned by Capps' brother Thomas (). After Confederate General Robert Easley surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9 1865(), all but two ofCapps Hill's slaves were freed (). As black people began moving into areas adjacent to white neighborhoods throughout South Carolina during Reconstruction (), MtPleasant continued to be one of the most integrated towns in that state () . African Americans gradually regained full civil rights following World War II until they were finally granted them by Congress in 1964 (). This period saw revitalization efforts within MountPleasant itself with several new businesses opening up including restaurants, nightclubs and art galleries ; however many residents still cling to theirIntegrated Town roots which remain strong today
