The Lexington Coffee Company was founded in 1892 by two brothers, Lorenzo and Edward Bean. The company became one of the largest coffee companies in South Carolina. In 1925, the company merged with the Spartanburg Coffee Company to form the Spartanburg-Lexington Coffee Company.
Lexington is a city in the U.S. state of South Carolina, with a population of over 100,000 as of 2016. It is located on the Savannah River, about 15 miles (24 km) south-southwest of Charleston and 20 miles (32 km) east-northeast of Columbia. The name "Lexington" comes from the English word "Leyfield", meaning "a meadow". The first people to settle in this area were the Cherokee, who arrived around 1720. They built huts on high ground overlooking the Savannah River, where they grew corn and beans. In 1775, General James Lincoln and his forces invaded South Carolina and burned all their crops and villages before retreating back into Georgia. The Cherokee took refuge in what is now Lexington County while they rebuilt their society. In 1814–1815, Andrew Johnson was elected president of United States by popular vote and served during a time when slavery was legal in many states but not yet federally banned. His administration saw great progress for blacks through legislation such as Reconstruction; however, race relations continued to be difficult until after he resigned in 1868 due to scandal at his departmental office at Ulysses S. Grant's White House

The town of Lexington, South Carolina was founded in 1795 by a group of American Revolutionary War veterans. The city was named for General James Knox Lexington who served as the first Governor of South Carolina and led the state's resistance to British rule. In 1836, Lexington became the capital of South Carolina after Charleston was burned by the secessionists. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century and reached its peak in population around 1900. However, economic decline and World War II destroyed much of the city's infrastructure, leading to a drastic decrease in population over the ensuing decades. Today, only a few scattered neighborhoods remain within Lexington limits. In 1586, English settlers arrived in what is now known as South Carolina and built small settlements along the coast until they organized into villages in 1664. By 1795, several hundred American Revolutionary War veterans had settled in what is now Lexington because it offered free land on which to build their homes. The veteran community soon developed into an important political center due to its location at one of three key points along British-controlledSouth Carolina coastline: Fort Sumter (later Charleston), Savannah (then called Brunswick) or Hilton Head Island. In 1836, when Confederate forces unsuccessfully attempted to secede from America, Beaufort County chose Lexington as its capital rather than Charleston because it felt that there would be more support for secession from northward-moving residents living near Charleston than from those located further away in Beaufort County. The official name given to this new municipality was "Beaufort County seat" until 1881 when Columbia became the county seat following a decision by voters at a special election held on November 3rd that year amidst concerns about possible violence between pro-Union and pro-Confederate elements residing within Beaufort County precincts boundaries. During Reconstruction Era (1868–1912)Lexington lost much of its importance as a political center but did play some role in postbellum development including serving as an airfield for Union forces during World War II (1941–1945). After Columbia replaced Beaufort Countyseat on November 3rd 1911 following approval by voters via referendum jr., local businesses boycotted Columbia's hosting of countywide elections which were then reheld at different locations throughout southcentral SC due to fears that African Americans would not have access to ballots if they resided within white majority areas adjacent to Columbia while black residents located near Beaufort Courthouse continuedto vote at their respective courthouses unimpeded thereby maintaining check on power dynamics between white supremacists and African Americans throughout southeast SC during this era festered with various degrees
Lexington was founded in 1819 by the Reverend John Wilkinson. The town became a textile center during the late 19th century, and its residents pioneered many of the innovations that led to modern technology. In addition to their textile industry, Lexington also produced paper, bricks, and other products. The town's population peaked at over 100,000 in the early 21st century, but has since declined as a result of heavy rural migration and other economic factors.
