The history of gourmet coffee in Lancaster, South Carolina began with the arrival of Italian immigrants in the early 1800s. The Italians brought their own unique culture and cuisine to America and soon established a local coffee industry. In 1915, the Lancaster Coffee Company was founded by Carlo Petrini and his brother-in-law, Angelo Monti. The Petrini family ran the company until its sale to J.B. Marchionni in 1978. During this time, Lancaster became known as one of the most important coffee destinations in the southeastern United States. In 1978, J.B. Marchionni sold Lancaster Coffee Company to Swift & Co., which continued to operate it until 2001 when it was purchased by Peet's Coffee Corporation. Peet's is responsible for developing and marketing gourmet coffee throughout the Southeast United States under three brands: Green Mountain Coffee®, Dunkin' Donuts® Brand Coffee, and Starbucks™ Blend Café Coffee*. These brands are marketed towards specialty retailers, convenience stores, airport terminals, institutional settings, and other foodservice customers who appreciate high quality coffees that are hand roasted using only natural beans from around the world*.*

Over time, different types of roasted beans were developed for specific regions or consumption styles (eastern European/ Turkish style roast vs Americano), which helped differentiate Starbucks’ products from those run by other retail chains. Today, Starbucks continues its tradition of innovation by developing new roasts each year that are specifically chosen for their unique flavor profile and taste preferences among customers worldwide.

Lancaster is a town in York County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. Lancaster is known as the "Gateway to the Palmetto State." The first settlers in what is now Lancaster were white men who came overland from North Carolina in 1775. They named their new settlement after George Washington and his army's crossing of the Potomac River on July 4, 1814. The original village was located near present-day downtown Lancaster on the east bank of the York River. In 1827, a group of Scots-Irish farmers migrated to Lancaster and started a cotton farm that thrived until 1865 when it was destroyed by fire. During Reconstruction in South Carolina, many Northerners moved into Lancaster to take advantage of its fertile soil and low cost of living. Many commercial businesses were built here including WNC Tobacco Company (now Altria) and First National Bank which still operate today. After Reconstruction ended in 1880, business declined until World War II resurrected it with increased demand for munitions during World War II and afterward. In 1955, Lancaster became a city when it annexed neighboring unincorporated townships along the south side of York River for economic development purposes. At that time there were only 2,000 residents living within city limits; however by 2000 there had grown over 6,000 people within city limits alone as well as an additional 3,500 people residing inside the annexed townships outside ofcity boundaries which makes up much of today's population totals! Today's economy focuses mainly on manufacturing with 10 large corporations operating in Lancaster City Limits - most notably Land O' Lakes Paper company - although some businesses have exited or closed since 2002 due to consolidation among similar companies throughout South Carolina regardless of size! Manufacturing has been Lancasters mainstay for most recent decades providing employment for more than 50% of all local jobs!
Lancaster was founded in 1729 by Captain John Lancaster and his wife, Martha. The town grew rapidly during the early 1800s, and by 1821 it had a population of over 100 people. By 1849, Lancaster had become an incorporated city with a population of over 500 people. In 1868, the city became the capital of South Carolina.
