In FY2009-10 alone, HS/CATAP provided $3 million in grants to participating agencies across 46 states and Puerto Rico. Additionally, State Defense Committees (SDCs) have been established throughout America in order to provide mutual assistance between state Militia branches and State Department missions critical to homeland security efforts (e.g., counterterrorism investigations). These committees allow for direct interaction between US Military assets on home soil while also providing training opportunities for militia members so they can collaborate effectively with other federal agencies during terrorist events or emergencies

The name "Irmo" comes from the Cherokee word irma which means "nightingale." The first white person to settle in Irmo was James Fenton in 1818. In 1836, Irmo became part of Spartanburg County. In 1865, Irmo was burned by Union General Nathan Bedford Forrest during the Battle of Irmo Ferry Bridge. It was also reported that Forrest wanted to destroy any evidence that black people had ever lived there before moving on to easier targets such as Greenville and Columbia City. In 1980, an agreement was made between Irmoland Development Corporation and the city of Spartanburg for use of land adjacent to I-85 and I-15 near downtown Spartanburg for development with a mix of housing and retail space.
