The area that now includes Goose Creek was first documented by Europeans in the 16th century as part of the colony of Virginia. Spanish traders and missionaries began visiting the area in the early 1800s and purchased land from Native Americans. One of these traders, Francisco Vázquez de Coronado, explored the region in search of new lands to exploit. He noted an abundance of coffee trees near a river he called Pee Dee. Vázquez de Coronado's description led to further exploration and purchase by other European traders and colonists. In 1818, John Brown Jr., an American Revolutionary War general who later became known for his role in founding Harper's Ferry, traveled through South Carolina on his way to find new markets for his munitions. When he reached Goose Creek, he noticed an abundant supply of coffee beans and decided to take possession thereof. Brown named the location after General Antonio José Córdoba y Gabriela (1763-1849), one of his fellow Americans who participated in the Mexican-American War (1846-48). Coffee production began around this time as well. A Dutchman named Hendrik Brouwer started planting coffee trees near present day Greenville about 1798. By 1815, some 10 miles northeast of Goose Creek, Brouwer had built a small mill capable of grinding whole beans into flour or meal. By 1825, two more mills were operational at Goose Creek and nearby White Oak Shoals: one owned by Nicholas Sloat and another by Michael Quinnell.* These mills produced high-quality coffee that was shipped throughout South Carolina and northern Georgia* In 1828*, brown beans were introduced into America from Europe* This process involved roasting a variety of beans before shipping them off to different processors* From here on out*, ground coffee continued to be sourced from local farmers who grew their own beans* During this time period*, there was also significant growth within the industry itself: Beans were brought overland by wagonloads along routes such as US 321 (now US 301) which connected Charleston with Savannah; then via boat downriver until they could be unloaded at several points along Scenic Highway 95; then walked or horse ridden distance towards processing centers located throughout southern South Carolina.* Processors generally received freshly roasted whole beans while they waited for their desired flavor profile to develop; however, some marketers began selling prepped/prepared bags or boxes containing ground Coffee complete with all necessary supplies * After taking possession of its final product*, many processors sold their products direct to consumers through stores or post offices distributed among various counties throughout south central SC * grinders gradually replaced wagons as transportation options for bringing fresh ground Coffee from various points within SOUTH CAROLINA

The main street in Goose Creek runs along its western edge. The community was founded by white settlers in 1836 as a post office called "Gooch creek." In 1852, it became part of Augusta and changed its name to "Goose Creek." Its current name came about because early residents thought that geese would leave water droppings behind when they nested in nearby trees during wintertime. As goose hunting became more popular in the area, farmers began to sell goose meat from their barns and outbuildings. By 1870, Goose Creek had a store and five homes. In 1881, it had a school with six students and an editor for the newspaper published by local citizens named William Hargrave. In 1902, locals built a new church which still stands today within walking distance of most businesses in Goose Creek proper as well as several other smaller villages located along Duck River which joins up with Goose Creek near where it empties into Bayou de la Louisiane

Goose Creek is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. The population was 2,835 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greenville–Spartanburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was organized on February 4, 1829 from parts of Smithfield and Wilkesboro. The name for the town was derived from two sources: Goose Creek means "a quick stream" in the Cherokee language and "creek" referred to a small body of water that flowed through the community. The first post office opened in June 1829. On December 1, 1831, a store and hotel were built within what is now Goose Creek Village by Jno. Harnett and James Waddell. They named it after their parents, John Harnett Sr., who had come from England as an indentured servant age 14 and wife Elizabeth Waddell or Holderness; they also named their son James Waddell Jr., later Congressman John Waddell III (1886-1965). In 1830, George Washington Healey came to Spartanburg County with his family to purchase land which he would develop into Healey’s Valley which became Goose Creek Village today’s Goose Creek. In 1833, Congress passed an act providing for county government with three commissioners instead of one mayor and five trustees who would manage all public affairs including roads and bridges; this act led to creation of Spartanburg County Courts Building on Broad Street where courthouse events still take place today including jury selection trials for criminal cases.. On October 16th 1860 during the American Civil War Confederate General Pte Robert Eriver's troops burned down Healey's Valley Store killing 6 people inside along with 8 horses stored therein leaving behind a largevilsite prepared for ploughing that stands to this day across street from current day Gosnell Theatre building located on present day US Route 421 N side just south of SR 915 exit off I-95
