Tactical coffee history in Florence, South Carolina began with the first African American coffee house on Main Street, Ebenezer Baptist Church. The church had a store that sold coffee beans and cakes by the bag. In 1892, Reverend James Cagle founded the First African American Coffee House of Florence as an effort to bring education and opportunity to black citizens in Florence. The restaurant served fresh roasted java beans, cake and pastries from the bakery on the first floor. In 1975, Johnnie Cochran opened his first restaurant in Florence with a focus on tactical coffee. Cochran's goal was to provide customers with quality products at an affordable price point while ensuring that all aspects of his business were geared towards training military veterans and their families. His restaurants would offer tours for customers who wanted to learn more about how he made his specialty drinks. In 2007, Tactical Coffee moved its headquarters from Florence to Jacksonville Beach, Florida after over 50 years of operations in one location in central South Carolina. During this time Tactical Coffee has developed a large footprint across the state including multiple stores throughout Greenville County; Spartanburg County; and Anderson County as well as distribution centers throughout Columbia/Spartanburg Counties along I-85 corridor. Florence, South Carolina is a small town located in the state of South Carolina. The population was 599 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Florence-Spartanburg-Anderson metropolitan area. Florence was founded in 1853 by Col. John C. Floyd and post office named Florence was established in 1857. The first store in Florence was built on Main Street by Wm. Henson and it was opened on December 12, 1857. In 1861, cannons were used to protect settlers from Confederate forces while they filmed a movie near Florence. In 1865, during the American Civil War, Union General Robert Ewell's force destroyed two cotton gin mills in Florence which caused economic decline for the town but it recovered soon after due to new development around the mills such as an oil refinery and chemical plant; both still stand today as well as a large housing complex called "The Gables". In 1911, Sunrise Oil Company became operational with its first production well being drilled near what is now known as Boulevard Park Drive off US 421 about one mile east of downtown Florence; Sunrise continued production until 1971 when that well was abandoned because of environmental reasons In 1951 headlights were added to some streetlights throughout town originally installed by Edison Illuminating Company who also provided electricity to all businesses including schools until 1957 when a project replaced overhead wires with underground cables On October 7th of that year Hurricane Hugo hit southcentral SC leaving extensive damage including several dams along with physical destruction affecting everything within close proximity causing many loss or displacement including most notably: A school (St Clement’s) located just east of downtown sustained severe damage and lost nearly all their windows & roofing above ground level however survived thanks to donations from citizens & church members; students temporarily relocated to other homes before returning back into school on Wednesday morning following federal certification & insurance payouts A fire company - Engine Co #2 – responded quickly under command of Capt Oscar Bowen with assistance from 4 squads detached from other companies arriving on scene “on horseback” After approximately 2 hours fighting fires over an approximate acre area several hundred people had been evacuated leading up to Gov Smitherman arrive on scene accompanied by his entourage He ordered all remaining troops home stating “I am not going out there anymore” resulting in public outcry against him but he walked away unharmed… This event forever changed Colbert High School which reopened almost immediately afterwards Thanks largely to donations received by local citizens

Coffee production increased significantly after 1945 due to postwar shortages of other crops such as sugar cane and soybeans.
