Easley is a town in McCormick County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 9,746 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Florence Metropolitan Statistical Area. Easley was founded in 1836 by men from Georgia and named for John Easley, a planter who had come tosouth Carolina as part of the Treaty of Paris that ended the American Revolution. The first coffee beans were grown in this area by pioneers such as George Washington Carver and Edwin Forrest. In 1895, two Dutchmen named Hendrik Muller and Cornelius Beukes started a small coffee farm near present-day Easley with 150 acres (60 hectares). For many years, these gentlemen Farms grew onlyfairly priced coffee beans which were distributed throughout central SC by their partners/employees/friends. In 1969, local businessmen JB Fritsch and Jimmie Hammons purchased Hendrik Muller's farmstead and began growing Arabica beans on it under the name "Muller Coffee." Over time they developed additional farms aroundthe city limits of Florence; butlerfield (1974), blackforest (1977), whitehaven (1981), greenacres(1986) – each producing its own unique blend of coffees according to growing conditions and production schedule. After years of careful planning they opened their first store in downtown Florence on May 1st 1984 - oneof only four retail stores open then within 25 miles of downtown Florence! Today Muller Coffee operates 26 stores statewide with annual sales nearing $1 billion

The first post office was established in 1839. As of the 2010 census, Easley had a population of 24,902. The economy of Easley depends largely on agriculture and manufacturing. Manufacturing includes textiles, plastics, shoes, furniture and other products. Agriculture includes haymaking and cattle raising. A variety of natural resources are also employed in the economy: coalmining and oil drilling are two significant sources of revenue for the town; timber represents another important resource; while tourism provides some jobs within the local community. The town has a rich history dating back to its founding days. Captain John Easley is considered one of the early pioneers of South Carolina because he settled here with his family in 1838 after arriving from Virginia with plans to found a new colony called "Arlington". He was successful and soon started trading goods with surrounding states including West Virginia and Kentucky. In 1840 he purchased 4200 acres (1 km2) of land along Hiwassee River which became known as Easley Plantation because it was here that he raised cotton during the early 1800s. In 1848Captain John Easley married Sarah Clementson who came from Spartanburg County, South Carolina; they were married at Bible Chapel Church on July 8th,. They had five children: Sarah J., James P.,John F., Cynthia Ann (born 1865),and Alice Elizabeth (born 1870). After Captain John's death in 1862 Sarah married her second husband General Beall who died young at age 42 years old leaving her mother four daughters- Ann Beall SC USMA FAA (1893 -1982), Eleanor Hargrave Beall(1903-1994), Marianne Beall Bryson(1907-2002)and Florence Bowen Beall Deason(1959 -present). After General Bealls death Sarah remarried to Drzebo Wadding who she divorced after three years when he failed to produce children born to them during that time frame Another highlight from this period occurred when Mrs Kapp von Bentheim donated 100 acres (40 hectares) near present day Mount Pleasant to help develop an agricultural experiment farm associated with Clemson University which later became Avery University . Mrs Kapp Von Bentheim also contributed $5 per acre (.008 hectoliters) towards school maintenance which helped finance many developments throughout Greektown such as brick buildings for courthouse/ Jail complex & Main Street School # 1 . Additional contributions were made by Mr Waddell , Rev Grier & his wife Fannie Payne Whitney (1863 – 1951 ), Miss Lillie SprattJones(1900 – 1978 ) through their Mothers collection fund “Mrs Lillie Spratt Jones Memorial Fund” ; numerous individuals thru out Spartanburg County contribute regularly thru private donations too ! With so much documentation available from these various contributors we can state without question that without Mrs Kapp Von Bentheim’s gift Arrington would not have come into being !! To date there have been over $100K contributed by descendants or related parties alone !! This success story could not have happened without Mrs Kapp Von Bentheim’s generosity !! coffee has a long and varied history, dating back to the beginning of agriculture. One of the earliest known coffee beans was found in Sumer in 4500 BC. Coffee was first grown on plantations in Africa and South America between the 16th century and 18th century. The Dutch introduced coffee to Europe in 1611, and by 1624 they had established a small trading post at Rotterdam that became one of the leading European centers for coffee trade. Coffee began to be exported from Holland to England, France, Spain, and other parts of Europe during the 17th century. In 1700, Dutch traders founded a permanent settlement at Java (now Indonesia) where they started cultivating coffee trees. Java became an important node in colonial Southeast Asia because it supplied Indonesian traders with coffee beans and other valuable resources. From Java, Dutch traders brought coffee directly to Europe through ports such as Batavia ( Jakarta), Amsterdam, Genoa, Antwerp, Barcelona, Toulouse, Lisbon etc. In 1792 French explorer Duplessis sent his ship La Dauphine into contact with Indonesian fishermen who reported finding new sources of Indies Coffee Beans off Sulawesi ( Celebes). After tasting this rare variety for himself Duplessis ordered his captain-major de la Mothe de Bougainville to explore these new lands further. Bougainville reached New Guinea on July 25th 1795 while sailing along latitude 13° south but no evidence exists that he tasted any difference between this type of bean and those now grown east of Borneo or Sulawesi. Instead it is thought that he may have been exploring another source for food supplies for his troops fighting against Spanish forces occupying Canada since there were no real outlets for Indian goods coming up from North America at that time(although some artifacts recovered from Canadian soil suggest otherwise). There are references to "Indonesian Coffee" being traded with Europeans starting around 1800 however no definite evidence exists as to when this particular type of coffee entered into regular English trade(possibly occurring prior to then due largely to unrecorded maritime traffic). The first documented shipment of ground Javatte Coffee arrived in London aboard HMS Dolphin in 1810(which suggests perhaps early 19th century British trading efforts were focused more towards India than Indonesia). It should be noted however that early shipments only account for about 1/3 percent of all total global cargo handled by British shipping during this period so it is not conclusive evidence that Javatte Coffee reached Britain specifically via Dutch ships only.( See: "British Overseas Trade: A Chronology", Published by Routledge Press ISBN 978-0-415-03098-4) The first espresso machine was built by Luigi Beccaria circa 1550 AD according to Italian historian Alessandro Manzoni who also claims Beccaria's discovery led directly theretotoofafeemaker which finally replaced water filters used before which would lead brews through dirty air spaces or even worse fire! This invention allowed Italians throughout much of Northern ItalyBeginninginthe1600stobecomethe dominant cappuccino brewers due their love affair with caffeinated pastries such as donuts etc... espresso machines began appearing all over Central Italyby1750ADandwerebeginningto spread internationally soon thereafter! By 1830 almost every major city had one! As technology improved so too did espresso machines becoming far more sophisticated including automatic timers/separators/filters making them easier,, faster,, lessdirtyandmorehealthythanbefore! Additionally many cafes began serving regularly brewed mochas rather than just morning coffees leaving behind an unique flavor profile unique unto them... today many cafés continue serve both morning and afternoon coffees mixed together creating what is often called a “café latte” There are numerous factors contributing towards high quality cup quality including proper brewing process including temperature control; extraction method - plunger or lever Method; grind size - coarser or finer; grounds composition - free leaf vs roasting; Brewing Time - short burst vs long infusion etc... Easley is a town in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 5,696 at the 2010 census. The town has been located in Spartanburg County since 1847. It was incorporated as a municipality on January 1, 1907. The Easley Historic District is a historic district encompassing most of the downtown area of Easley. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. Easley is one of two towns in Spartanburg County that were founded by African Americans while slavery continued to be legal in the state. The other is Mount Pleasant. Easley's early settlers came from all over South Carolina and Georgia looking for land to farm and build homes on during the antebellum period following the end of slavery in America. Most of these colonists were white men who had bought or leased land from black farmers during this time period. Only a small number of African American families lived in Easley at first until 1865, when free blacks began moving into the town because it became known as "the blackmun".
