In 1912, Beattie's son-in-law and business partner, W. Henson Ingram, bought out his father-in-law's share of the business and kept it going until his death in 1971. The Beaufort Coffee Company was founded in 1916 by Major General Curtis LeMay with help from some local farmers who had been grows beans for him since 1907. The company became a giant in South Carolina with over 1 million pounds of beans distributed throughout the state during World War II. The company ceased operations after the war but has been revived several times over the years as various small businesses have purchased its assets.

Beaufort is a small town in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It is located on Cape Hatteras Island, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Charleston and about 15 miles (24 km) north of Beaufort City. The population was 576 at the 2010 census. The island was first settled by English fishermen in 1635, and developed into an agricultural colony during the early 18th century. In 1752, a British military detachment landed on the island to suppress a slave insurrection; they took several African slaves as hostages, but were ultimately forced to leave without freeing any of their captives. The island came under Spanish rule in 1763, and became part of the Province of Carolina in 1795. In 1807, Beaufort gained its current name when Captains John Beaufort and James Tyger purchased land on Cape Hatteras from Sam Moore for £200 sterling. The town began to grow rapidly during this time, thanks to its close ties with Charleston and its access to ships docking at Fort Sumter – which allowed for easy trade with Spain – as well as its proximity to seafood processors such as Jervis Bay Company and planters like Andrew Johnson Sr.. In 1821, Beaufort was designated as one of two counties within South Carolina newly formed from all the remaining lands acquisitions made during the Seminole Wars; it also received a courthouse and jail built by local contractor James Robeson between 1825-27. By 1860, Beaufort had become an important seaport for Charleston’s cotton exports; however, strong competition from neighboring Savannah led to a decline in economic activity throughout most of the 19th century before gradually recovering starting around World War II until reaching new heights following Hurricane Florence in 2018. Today, Beaufort remains an important community with strong cultural ties to Charleston – both economically and politically – while also enjoying some unique amenities such as public transportation options that make it convenient for locals and visitors alike to explore this unique location.
