Warwick, Rhode Island is known as the "Coffee Capital of the World." The city was founded in 1795 by General John Brown and his team of colonists as a small trading post on the Narragansett Bay. Coffee became an important export commodity in Rhode Island, and coffee houses were popular meeting places for townspeople and professionals. In 1824, one of America's first commercial coffee roasters, Nicholas Appert, opened his shop in Warwick. By 1830, over 20 coffee shops had been established in Warwick. In 1835, General Nathaniel Ward purchased 200 acres of land at Pawtucket Falls from the Providence Company for $1 million. This area would become the future site of Brown University.Ward developed Pawtucket Falls into a fashionable residential community with elegant homes and gardens. The first coffee house in Pawtucket Falls was called "The White House" because it was owned by Colonel John Curtis who lived there until he sold it to Ward in 1852. In 1865, Lewiston entrepreneur James Fenton opened what would become one of America's most famous coffeehouses – The Peet's Coffee House – located on Market Street near present-day State Park Drive. Fenton imported expensive European espresso beans from Italy and roasted them himself at hisshop using only whole beans rather than ground beans which gave his cafes a high quality taste that continues to this day. Over time other local businesses such as Gildersleeve's grocery store joined Fenton's establishment as part of the Warwick business district known today as Midtown Warwick. Beginning in the early 1960s, much attention turned to Rhode Island during the Civil Rights Movement due to its significant minority population (approximately 25 percent African American) and lack of access to education or jobs opportunities for African Americans statewide compared to white populations across all states%. This focus led some black businessmen to enter into coffee business within Rhode Island; among these businessmen was Edwin Rice who started The National Coffee Corporation based out of Providence in 1964 and later became president Reagan’s Secretary Of Agriculture under President George H W Bush Today many people remember how good RI coffees used to beback when we still had our own farmers field handpicking every morning!

In 1930, General Electric moved its manufacturing operations from Scranton, Pennsylvania to Warwick after purchasing some land there. By 1602, Dutch traders had imported all of Java's coffee trees so that they could roast their own coffees! This was an important achievement because it allowed them to develop what we now know as espresso (a type of coffee) instead of using Arabic-style roasted beans from other countries. Today, high-quality espresso is available throughout most parts of the world - except for some places where Arabica bean production continues uninterrupted!
