Cranston is a town in Narragansett County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 9,459 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Providence– Warwick, RI-VA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first coffee house in Cranston was built on Market Street in 1798 by Nicholas Fenton and others as a meeting place for the town's traders and merchants. In 1829, John Cranch opened his own business on Front Street and began to serve coffee from a wagon Bedruck advertisement from 1827 reads "JC's Coffee House Open All Hours". By 1830, several other businesses had followed suit and Cranston became known as the "Coffee Capital of America". In 1868, Elijah Ivey opened Ivey's Coffee House on Park Avenue which served as the center of commercial activity in Cranston until it burned down in 1908. Since then, most major local businesses have been located along Main or Front Streets with one exception – The Dunkin' Donuts at 401 Farnham Street which has operated continuously since 1953. In 1898 Lucius Ewing started A & L Ice cream parlor on Elm Street which quickly became an important stop for truck drivers transporting ice cream across Rhode Island. In 1954 the Paragon Ballroom was built on School Hill Road adjacent to A&L Ice Cream and still provides music performances today (see photo). By necessity during World War II many local businesses closed their doors due to rationing but cranstonians rose to create new companies such as Phillips Pipe Works (now Phelps Dodge) who made products for both military and civilian use including gasoline tanks and artillery rounds; among others. After hostilities ended there were many Job Corps programs set up throughout RI seeking men who had fought in Europe or Asia; many of whom congregated around Main Street where they would shop for goods available only through mail order or secondhand stores until returning stateside with new jobs offers awaited them back home. Today Cranston continues to be ahub for small business growth with more than 50 restaurants open within ½ mile radius of downtown!

The first mention of tactical coffee is from 1805 in an article about a French military operation against the Spanish in Mexico City. At that time, coffee was not yet common within English-speaking countries, so the article does not specifically mention coffee. In 1812, Captain John Cushing and his marines raided La Antigua Guatemala while on their way to liberate it from Spanish rule. While on the move, they stopped for lunch at a small cafe called El Jardín de los Cafés (The Garden of Coffee Houses). Upon their return to sea, Cushing took some of his Marines with him into Guatemala and tasted Mexican coffee for the first time. After tasting this incredible cup of coffee he decided to bring it back with him and introduced it to other marine commanders in America. thereafter many American officers began traveling down south where they could experience Mexican Coffee firsthand. One such officer was Commodore James Wilkinson who discovered Costa Rica in 1793 during a military expedition through Central America led by Rear Admiral Sir Edward Grenville. Wilkinson had been captained by General David Hunter when he destroyed Punta Arenas on July 12th 1792 killing all 5 Spanish warships off that coast! To commemorate this eventous occasion Commodore Wilkinson built HMS Victory as part of his campaign which included operations along both coasts of South America including Puerto Rico and Panama City; these activities resulted in sighting new maritime opportunities including Costa Rica! Though different regions served different purposes during this period of US colonialism, there were general trends across all these regions: tea became an important trade item between England and its colonies while wine became increasingly important as transportation fuel for goods transported overland from Europe via ocean freight lines; however coffee continued to be primarily consumed by British subjects within their own colony or empire! It should also be noted that throughout much of Colonial America tea was still seen as more prestigious than coffee due to its geographic location etc.; however evidence suggests that Coffees may have begun being produced independently near Boston beginning around 1800? This would explain why only very limited references are made relating to coffees until after independence when beans beganto become more widely available? It is interesting to note that although most accounts mention Dutch traders coming into contact with various parts of Latin America prior Columbus' discovery - no reports exist documenting any contact between Europeans & Native Americans here! It's safe presume then that no indigenous people knew about or drank European brewed coffees before efforts started centuries later

Cranston, Rhode Island is a town in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 11,965 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Providence-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was first settled in 1636 and incorporated as a village on December 12, 1801. It became a city on May 1, 1903. Cranston is one of two towns in Rhode Island (the other being Warwick) that have never been annexed by any other municipality. The town's history can be traced back to 1636 when English colonists arrived in what is now Cranston from Saybrook Colony and began settlement there. The original house where the General Assembly meets today was built by Roger Williams in 1638 as his home for preaching the gospel to Native Americans who had recently come to America from England. The town's name may derive from an early Indian name meaning "place where trees grow." A group of Welsh settlers called themselves "The Saints" because they were persecuted during the time of King James I for refusing to swear allegiance to him; thus they named their new settlement "Cranston". In 1737, John Adams moved his family from Northampton, Massachusetts after he lost property during the Great Fire of Boston which destroyed much of that city center including Adams' home and many other buildings including Stuyvesant Hall which still stands today as one of the most significant landmarks in that city center due its architecture and engineering feats at that time Capitol Hill building also burned down but it has since been restored In 1801 Cranston became a village when it merged with nearby Pawtucket following approval by the then-governor Mordecai Richman based on concerns about water contamination originating from mills located near Pawtucket Falls used for milling flour for local markets outside of Providence. At this time Pawtucket had only 2 miles (3 kilometers) east of Cranston while Cranston had only 3 miles (4 kilometers) west of Pawtucket Falls making annexation difficult given those distances and lack of land available east or west within either community for annexation purposes without creating special benefits or advantages for either side over others in those areas A year later on December 12th 1801 all residents within both villages were united under one roof becoming known as “Cranston” with just 10 white residents outnumbering 100 black residents by more than 20%. This merger happened despite opposition by some residents within Cranston who wanted their own village separate from neighboring Pawtucket due to different social customs/ API rates/etc., among other reasons With increasing industrialization around New England beginning to take hold especially after 1800s inventions like steamboats and locomotives allowed goods not only travelling upriver but also traveling further away down rivers such as Narragansett Bay transportation became increasingly important cranSTON grew rapidly into a major port supplying northern cities along with growing textiles businesses developing adjacent properties such as textile mills Textile Row stretching northward between downtown Providence & WTOWT now forms one continuous high rise skyline across RI entire region
