This event marked an important victory for America’s military intervention in Southeast Asia- something that would be repeated across other regions throughout the next several decades. 3) Desert Storm: On June 6th 1991, Saddam Hussein’s regime had begun preparations for an artillery attack on Kuwait City that could lead to a nuclear exchange between Iraq and Iran; this situation led to Gulf War I which lasted three days with devastating effects on civilians due to coalition airstrikes as well as ground combat engagements by Iraqi soldiers inside Kuwait city itself. As a result of this conflict alone- known collectively as Operation Desert Storm- 3 million people were killed or injured within Iraq alone with millions more nationwide who lost their homes or businesses due to sanctions placed by UN Security Council Resolution 1441).
