The United States Army stationed in Central Falls, Rhode Island from 1862 to 1865. During this time, the regiment was known as "The Second Rhode Island Regiment." The regiment served in three wars: the American Civil War (1861-1865), the Spanish-American War ( 1898), and World War I (1914-1918). In 1862, when the army moved to Central Falls, soldiers brought with them their favorite gifts from home. These items were often stored at FortFPL until they could be shipped off to various units or deployed. One of the first things that soldiers brought back with them was a gift for General John A. Logan, Commander of BrigadeGHQUSR. This gift was an Irish setter named "O'Reilly." Another soldier who returned home with a gift for General Logan was Private First Class George W. Smith of Company F, 1st Rhode Island Infantry. Smith had received his present from his mother before he left for Spain on July 8th, 1898. The gift was a military sword called "Leatherman's Sword" which he would use as his personal weapon while serving in Cuba during the Spanish-American War. In 1915, when World War I started, Soldiers organized into Regiments and Companies and began exchanging gifts with one another online or by letter postcards. This tradition continued until after World War II when Soldiers stopped sending gifts home altogether because they no longer needed them anymore on active duty. However, some Soldier’s families continue to give small presents like flowers or cookies every Christmas and New Year's Day even though their Soldier is no longer living within easy reach!

On July 12, 1775, the militia was again called out to suppress a riot near Newport. A company from Company I of the same regiment arrived too late to prevent the violence and fled before they could be collected.
Central Falls, Rhode Island is a town in Providence County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 6,581 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest community in Providence County and the second-smallest town in Rhode Island after Warwick. Central Falls is part of the Pawtucket–Providence Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers to Central Falls were those who arrived on a ship called "Samuel Adams" in 1638. The town was founded by Increase Mather, who purchased land from Narragansett Indians in 1775. In 1807, George Washington visited Central Falls while campaigning for reelection as President of the United States; he stopped at the town's wharf and enjoyed a dinner given by Mather hosted at one of the local churches. In 1892, Central Fallers leased their sawmill to John Trowbridge and continued to produce lumber until it closed in 1915. In 1927, J P Laughlin bought the mill and reopened it as an aluminum plant producing aluminum cans and other products until its closure in 1990. On October 25th 1909 Central Fallers had their centennial celebration with a picnic dinner at Faneuil Hall attended by dignitaries from across New England including William Jennings Bryan; Alfred Stroud; Francis Waugh; Edward Everett Hale; Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D Roosevelt were guests of honor . A plaque honoring these events can be found on Main Street near where the restaurant used to stand before being torn down for development purposes during the late 1990s/2000s. A small park located just outside of town was dedicated on July 11th 1931 as "Pawtucket Park", named after then Mayor James Pawlenty himself (now Governor). This park contained playground equipment donated by various companies throughout Pawtucket prior to its dedication which included a baseball diamond donated by Smithfield Foods Company president Sidney Weinreb; later renamed King David Memorial Park after King David’s home which stands today adjacent to South Market Street Bridge across Narragansett Bay

Central Falls is one of the oldest towns in Rhode Island and it was founded by English settlers in 1635. The first permanent settler in Central Falls was Nicholas Bourne who arrived in 1639. In 1794, John Adams moved to Central Falls from Warwick and he became one of the first U.S. Senators from Rhode Island. The townspeople built a new courthouse which served as their local government center until 1822 when they organized as a village under the name of "Central". In 1829, they changed their name back to "Central Falls" after being ratified as an incorporated town by the General Assembly. The original mills were built on what is now Main Street and they produced flour, cheese, paper and other products for local Consumption and export to other parts of New England and Canada during this time period. The mills closed around 1900 but important cultural artifacts such as looms or cotton ginettes still remain today in various states throughout America due to their unique history!
