The town of Yeadon, Pennsylvania was founded in 1795 by the surveyors who surveyed the area that now includes the town. The name “Yeadon” is a corruption of “Jehuodon,” meaning lieutenants or officers in the British army. Yeadon was once a part of what is now Delaware County, but it was annexed to Pennsylvania in 1800. The population of Yeadon peaked at over 10,000 in 1820, but declined thereafter. However, immigration to the town continued until the late 19th century and today (2015) there are still a few thousand people living in Yeadon. The history of Yeadon begins with its founding as a small farming community. In 1795, surveyors began surveying this area for a new county seat and they chose Yeadon because it had an excellent location on the Susquehanna River and its soil was fertile enough for crops. At first, only men were allowed to live here; later women also moved into this community. The first schools were created within these early days and many residents took on important roles within local government including serving as justices of peace and tax assessors. In 1830, when western Pennsylvania became part of Ohio Territory, most residents left Yeedon for what would become Akron – eventually becoming one of Ohio’s largest cities – but some remained behind to continue their agricultural life and build up their businesses around trade with easterners. By 1840 there were just 12 homes remaining in Yeedon while 3 miles downstream lived Johnstown which at that time served as both capital city for Mercer County (northwest Ohio) and home to various Indian-owned trading posts supplying goods all across central PA from Lancaster eastward through Westmoreland County into Indiana Territory before finally reaching Illinois Territory near Peoria! It wasn’t until 1849 when Anthony Wayne won his famous Battle of Gettysburg which brought about much needed economic development throughout much of central PA – especially along Pittsburgh’s border with Virginia – that many people returned back to live in their original communities such as those located along Beaver Creek or Monongahela River Valley outside Pittsburgh proper! This migration resumed following General Grant’s victory at Appomattox Court House during Reconstruction which ended slavery throughout America! Yieldtoniam developed slowly throughout this period due largely to lack of affordable housing options available locally so growth wasn't consistent until after World War II when tract houses started being constructed all over easternPA periphery thanks largely to GI dollars brought westward by Progressivism! After WW2 however numerous families decided they didn't want easy access to good schools & high crime rates ensued leading again Totauk Dammezian family (1948-Present)to purchase land immediately adjacent river frontage best suited for growing vegetables & raising chickens

Yeadon is a small town in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Yeadon was founded in 1795 by Nicholas Brendel and his family as a parsonage on an isolated farmstead called Yeadon Heights. In 1827, it became the seat of office for Lancaster County and remained so until 1959 when it moved to Allentown. The original courthouse building still stands, used as a schoolhouse from 1859-1966 and again from 1998-2002 before becoming a private home. The history of Yeadon can be traced back to its earliest days as a small Unitarian church settlement which functioned as both civil and religious center for the surrounding farming Township of Nanticoke. By 1800, there were only about 60 people living in what would become the town of Yeadon; however, within 10 years that number had swollen to more than 200 with new arrivals coming from all over Pennsylvania and even beyond. It wasn't until after the American Revolution that life really started to change in Yeadon – slowly but surely changes were taking place that would have sweeping impacts on not just this small community but also on much of rural Lancaster County for years to come. As one story goes: In 1795 Nicholas Brendel erected a simple log cabin near present day Nanticoke Creek State Park in order to serve as pastor for his congregation who then resided at nearby Yeadon Heights (later renamed Borough). At first services were conducted orally under cover of night because there was no ordained clergy available at that time (the equivalent of today's churches). Eventually Pastor Brendel purchased additional land adjoining his home which he leased out for services rendered sermonally during daylight hours….. This service arrangement continued until 1827 when the county legislature constructed their own courthouse located two miles east on Route 910 (now Whitehall Road) adjacent to where now Chapel Hill Road meets Route 725 (Nanticoke Creek State Park)………. Reverend Brendel’s successor until his death Drury operated this court house continuously until 1959…………… That same year Allentown became the county seat effective January 1st following incorporation by act of Congress pursuant to Act No. 3272……………………………………….. Notwithstanding these numerous local efforts throughout those years including many petitions submitted by select men elected by popular vote (& their representatives), relocation never occurred due largely to cost considerations associated with providing suitable transportation & quarters within existing communities……………………………………………………………………………………………………..
