In 1875, Yeadon was founded as a small town in the year. It grew rapidly and by 1907 had a population of 3,000 people. The town was initially built on the site of an old mill which still stands today. In 1915, Yeadon became the first city in Pennsylvania to be founded and it quickly grew in popularity as a commercial center for the surrounding area. By 1925, Yeadon had a population of 10,000 people and it continued to grow until its incorporation into the city of Pittsburgh in 1960.
Yeadon is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,674 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first European to sight what would become Yeadon was Captain John Smith on his return from America's first voyage in 1592. He named it "New Amsterdam" after his own city of New York and naming all of the surrounding towns as he went - Perth Amboy, Easton, White Haven and so on. In 1795, when the area was made an independent county by Act of Congress under the name Butler County, much to the chagrin of Pittsburghians who saw their town as their natural home, John Dickinson called Yeadon "the best place in Butler." However even during this prosperous time there were few people living hereabouts because most businesses had been removed to Pittsburgh or other larger cities during the period of industrial Revolution that began about 1800 and ended about 1830. In 1836 Pittsburghers voted for secession from Butler County over objections from residents hereabouts; however this did not stop them from voting for Harrison Ford in 1840 as their Representative in Congress from that district (Ford being born and raised here). By 1851 Yeadon had only 7 inhabitants living there; but thanks to a combination of a new post office (opened in 1853) with several religious revival meetings held each summer nearby by ministers such as George Washington Carver (founder of American Agriculture Company), concern for its well-being led to a rapid growth thereafter culminating with its incorporation into borough status on November 1st 1909. The population today stands at 2,674 making it one of the largest communities within Butler County limits; indeed it ranks second only to Sewickley Township which has 4,614 residents according to 2010 census estimates! On December 12th 1893 – Thanksgiving Day – General Electric founder Samuel Morse opened his new electric factory just outside present day Monroeville - now known as GE Power Plant #1 - making this also one of history’s earliest commercial electric developments! And no wonder given that Edison himself opened his Laboratory adjacent thereto some years later! Although still quite small by today’s standards (less than 5% of current Yeadon’s total population), Post Office services have continued unchanged since 1909 despite occasional outages caused by ice storms or other natural disasters! Today many features associated with our early days are still evident: like Mazie Huppert’s old house which still stands unoccupied next door to her grocery store; or Mrs. Huggins' large rock garden which can be seen behind her home down Main Street; or even Mr./Ms.' Plummer's old car garage where you can still find forgotten tools left over from those days... It really is something special when you walk through these streets again after so many years!

In 1827, local entrepreneurs built the first sawmill in Yeadon and continued to operate it until 1840. The mill also produced lumber for buildings and other objects until 1865. Over time, Yeadon's economy shifted towards agriculture as well; during World War II, it played a significant role in supplying military units with foodstuffs and equipment. After World War II ended, the town declined again; however, it experienced another resurgence beginning in the 1970s due to new development around it and advances in technology. Today, Yeadon is one of Pittsburgh's most vibrant communities full of culture and commerce; its location within easy reach of major universities makes it one ofthe city's most coveted neighborhoods for residents seeking quality education opportunities.
