Yeadon is a small town in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, located in Northumberland County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 3,822. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first European settlers to arrive in what is now Yeadon were Dutch colonists who established a farmstead on land that still stands today. The name "Yeadon" was derived from an early Indian word meaning "place where deer are hunted." The first proper Baptist church was built in 1811 and First Presbyterian Church followed two years later. In 1824, Anthoni Van Doren erected a sawmill and gristmill on the side of a hill about four miles east of Yeadon. With its own water supply and excellent location for carrying out his lumber production, this mill became one of the most important businesses in Yeadon's history. In 1881, Edwin Purdy began operation of a flour mill at which time Yeadon's commercial district stood out as one of the most prosperous in all Pennsylvania. During World War II, many industries closed down due to high demand for war materials but many residents continued to support their local businesses by working at these companies until they finally closed down around 1990 when steel prices plummeted and layoffs occurred throughout much of Pennsylvania during this difficult period for industry overall. The town has since experienced significant redevelopment with new housing developments being built as well as several large retail stores such as Sears and JCPenney along with numerous restaurants including Subway and Panda Express have opened up shop over the past few decades giving Yeadon an injection of new life which has helped it maintain its nickname "the happening place". Today there are also several churches active within the community making it home to many people who appreciate religious services despite living close by some other places where those services are available without having to leave their homes!

Yeadon is a small town in the Susquehanna River Valley located in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. Yeadon was founded in 1798 by William Hunter and his wife Elizabeth. The population of Yeadon was 1,564 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Wilkes-Barre–Scranton metropolitan statistical area. The first settler in what is now Yeadon was William Hunter who arrived there on July 10, 1798. He and his wifeElizabeth had two children: John and Eliza. At that time there were no roads or transportation available to this area so they traveled on foot or horseback to get here. They started out from Scranton and walked for three days before arriving at their current location. In 1800, George Beasley came to Yeadon from Lebanon Township (now Uniontown). He also founded Beasleyville on the west side of present day Scranton along with his family. In 1802, Isaac Waters moved to Yeadon from Greencastle and purchased land which he built into avillage called Wilmington on the south side of modern day Scranton In 1805, John Ritchie settled in what is now Derry Township after leaving Scotland for America with his father James Ritchie Sr.. After moving here he began trading goods with Indians as well as building taverns nearpresentday Northumberland PA junction with PA state line Shortly thereafter he formed a partnership with Alexander Caldwell called The Three Rivers Trading Company which traded fur bearing goods including beaver pelts back and forth between Lancastercounty PA and Western Pennsylvania In 1815 Isaac Waters married Anna Donelson who had been born in western Monmouth County NJ . Her parents were Nicholas Donelson who owned a millinery store in TrentON , Anna's grandparents were Dutch colonists who had emigrated to New York State
