The United States Air Force has a long and proud history of deploying gifts to commemorate military engagements and events. Gifts have been sent to represent the nations at war, peacekeeping missions, and other special occasions. One of the most famous air force deployments was the 1998 deployment of Gifts from the Sky: A Tribute to America's Military Forces in Yeadon, Pennsylvania. Theift was created as a response to Operation Desert Storm and its aftermath. Theift honored American troops who had lost their lives or were injured in that conflict. Operation Desert Storm marked an important event for the USAF because it represented the first time that U.S. forces had fought in Southwest Asia since World War II. It also served as a warning to others who might consider engaging in such a conflict. Theift was created by LtCol Kenneth King with help from Maj (Ret) Dick Gsell, Command Sergeant Major for Headquarters Battalion, 4th Infantry Division/Airborne Brigade Combat Team 1st Infantry Division (Blue). Theift is made up of personal items donated by members of the civilian community throughout southeastern Pennsylvania during Operation Desert Storm. These items were then auctioned off online on Black Friday 2001 to support Special OlympicsPennsylvania's relief effort following that conflict. In celebration ofOperationDesertStorm 25 years later on November 11th, 2018 USAF flew two C-130 Hercules aircraft carrying more than 350 pounds worth of commemorative items including uniforms and insignias from 25 different units deployed during OperationDesertStorm as well as memorabilia from local businesses located within impacted areas such as Yeadon Township PA which hosted Task Force Rambo between December 1998 - January 1999

The gift history is the first of its kind in the area and was created to celebrate Air Force service members and their families. The gift history consists of items that have been donated by local businesses and individuals in the community.
Yeadon is located in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania and is part of the Allentown- Bethlehem-Easton, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. It has a population of over 100,000 people and is home to many industries such as manufacturing, transportation, health care, and education. The area was first settled by Germans in the early 1800s and was known for its fertile land and agricultural production. Yeadon was incorporated as a borough in 1903. In 1925 it became a city and has since grown into one of the most populous cities in Pennsylvania. The city has a rich history which can be found from its earliest settlers who were drawn to the fertile land near Reading and Lancaster Counties on account of its natural resources. Yeadon also played an important role during World War II with its establishment of Camp Butler which served as an airbase for American forces fighting in Europe. Today, Yeadon continues to be a major center for industry, commerce, education, and culture with many popular restaurants and nightlife options available.

In fact, when the Air Force was founded in 1947, the first deployments were made to Southeast Asia. Since then, the Air Force has sent gifts to more than sixty countries, thirty-six of which are in NATO. The Air Force's deployment history is intertwined with its culture and identity. When people think of the Air Force, they typically think of fighter jets and missiles. However, there are many different types of gift that have been sent to members of the Air Force over the years. Some examples include books on air force doctrine or service members' uniforms; Greeting cards featuring USAF personnel or their families; or clothing items such as hats or jackets for soldiers stationed overseas. One of the most recent deployments that have received attention from members of the public was Operation Santa Claus 2014. This event was held in December 2014 and involved sending toys to children across Europe as part ofOperation Christmas Tree 2014. The toy shipment had an estimated value of $5 million dollars. Yeadon is a small town located in western Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. Yeadon is part of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton metropolitan area. The first European settlement in what is now Yeadon was by German settlers in 1793. It was named for John Eaden, who built a ferry across the Susquehanna River to carry goods from Wilkes-Barre to Scranton. In 1814, General Andrew Jackson's army passed through Yeadon on their way to the Battle of Gettysburg and later called it "a very good place" for soldiers encampment. After the war, many of these veterans settled here and founded businesses such as a millinery store and bakery that continue to operate today. In 1875, William Halsey built his cotton gin on abandoned land near present day intersection of Market Street and York Road. This gin became one of the largest cotton gins in America and still functions today as a commercial production center for agricultural products grown around it including cottonseed oil, flour, feedlots and other related industries. Halsey also donated land north of his gin for development into what is now known as Civic Center Square Park which has since become an important cultural resource in Yeadon
The town of Yeadon, Pennsylvania was founded in 1784 by captain John Yeakel. The first post office opened in 1802. In 1865, the town was merged with nearby Bellefonte.
