She was recommissioned on October 15, 1898 and served through World War I before being sunk by Japanese torpedo boats off Hawaii on December 7, 1941. After World War II ended in 1945, many warships were decommissioned or sold to other countries. However, one of the last U.S. naval vessels to be decommissioned in Wyomissing was the USS Yorktown which served in the Vietnam War. In 1974 she was stricken from service and scrapped at Philadelphia's Bethlehem Steel Battalion Plant where she remained until 1978 when she collided with an Israeli destroyer and sank offshore near Haifa。 In 1980 Congress passed a law authorizing President Ronald Reagan to sell all surplus military hardware including ships and submarines License No: 80-2487 . On May 14th 1980 under this new law "USS Constitution (CVA-62)". Thisvessel had been located at Philadelphia Naval Shipyard since 1951 but due to her age and condition had not been modified or updated since her days as a coastal defense ship of yesteryear."

Polk ordered that Constitution be renamed USS Missouri after General John Steedman (a hero of the Mexican-American War) who had died in action against Mexico just two months earlier while serving with her squadron off Vera Cruz.

Wyomissing, Pennsylvania is a small town in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, United States. Wyomissing was founded by German settlers in 1795. The population was 1,523 at the 2010 census. Wyomissing is located on the edge of the Susquehanna River Valley and is bordered to the north by Altoona and to the east by Middletown. The Susquehanna River forms part of the border between Wyomissing and Altoona. The first European settler in what is now Wyomissing was Johann Gottlieb Wilemse who arrived there in 1795. He built a cabin on an island in the Susquehanna River where he named his settlement after his own home city of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In 1802, John Neely moved from Waterbury, Connecticut to begin farming in what would later be known as Wyomissing Township. Neely donated land for a Presbyterian church and school which were dedicated on December 4, 1803. In 1814-1815 Jacob Weiser established a gristmill on Magoffin Creek near present-day Wyomissing intersection with Route 621 (now US 724). By 1830 Weiser had erected two other mills within range of his gristmill; one at present day 168th Street and one at 169th Street east of US 21/US 24 (now PA 817). During the early 1800s there were few farmers living around Wyomissing because it was difficult to get enough water to survive fromsprings or watersheds that lay beyond their acreage boundaries; most farmers did not venture into this undeveloped region until later years when they formed companies such as Beaverdam & Snyder Incorporated with some success during this time frame thanks largely to investments made by prominent men like Captain George Beardsley who served as President pro tempore of Beaverdam Township Council from 1843-1848 inclusive . Captain Beardsley's investment led him to purchase over 2 acres including current day Overbrook Road just west of Magoffin Creek bridge approximately four miles upstream from today's community center - thus providing accessorial water rights on both sides of creek for future farmerssteads ....... On October 10th 1860 saw pioneers Robert Pfefferlein and Michael Ziegler arrive at Overbrook farmstead about three miles south eastbound off US 21/US 24 coming downriver then turning northeast following present day I 84 about 12 miles due southwesterly before reaching today's Overbrook Farmstead ........... After overland travel difficulties endured during winter months along now longest main route through Lancaster County numerous wagon trains stopped here for rest or trade goods late fall 1862 when main route became more practicable .......... Thereafter arrival began daily morningrailroad service commonly called "George Washington" running northwesterly out of Lancaster via Overbrook Ferry Landing past present day Scranton up river about 20 minutes thence continuing due northeasterly pastpresentday Wilkes Barre terminal
