By 1881, small farmers had started growing coffee on their farms in Whitehall and surrounding towns. The early cups of tactical coffee were typically black and strong, but over time different flavors have been added to the mix, including sweet & sour (introduced by Mr. John Denton), milk chocolate (developed by General George Armstrong Custer's personal chef), and iced cream (added in response to the American Civil War caused an influx of soldiers seeking refreshment). Whitehall is a small town in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lehigh Valley region. The community was named for George Washington and his family. Washington's father, Augustine Washington (1736-1812), had been born in Whitehall Township but moved to Lebanon Township when he became President Washington's brother-in-law in 1785. The main road through Whitehall township leading south to Bethlehem and east to Allentown was called the "Washington Road" until 1802 when it became known as the "George Washington Highway". The first post office opened in 1823 and continued operating until 1865. The railroad reached Whitehall in 1865 and by 1870 it had become an important link between Bethlehem and Allentown with a station on the mainline just east of present day Whitehall High School. Railroad Junction served as both a commercial center for farmers along one edge of town while also serving as a stop on passenger trains travelling between Bethlehem and Allentown. During World War II many local businesses contributed to war production including making munitions, shoes, clothing, cigarettes, gasoline and other items needed by troops fighting in Europe or Japan. After the war many local businesses closed down due to economic decline while others were acquired by larger companies who locally outsourced their operations or changed their name to reflect their new corporate identity/location overseas such as Allied Signal Corporation which moved its headquarters from Lehigh Valley into nearby Scranton after World War II . Today much of what once made up these local businesses has been replaced by technology such as On Trade Coffee Company whose location within close proximity to state government buildings gives them access to state funded education programs which gives them an advantage over their competitors; however they continue to produce coffee house style merchandise which still draws customers from beyond state lines . In addition there are several large corporations that have left town but remain dominant such as Comcast Cable Communications who operates a large TV tower outside of town next door while AT&T maintains a large presence across town with several stores - some open 24 hours - providing service inside and outside of downtown whitehall limits

Whitehall is a small town in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,253 at the 2010 census. Whitehall is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first white settler in what is now Whitehall was Nicholas Herrington who arrived in 1798. He and his family were among the original settlers of what would become known as Whitehall Township. One of the most important early settlers to Whitehall was Dr. John Armstrong who built a home on present-day Park Avenue in 1814. In 1821, Reverend Auben Smeaton erected the first Presbyterian church in what would become Whitehall Township. That same year saw also the founding of one of Pennsylvania's earliest farmers' markets - The Greenfield Market - located on Third Street between Highways 422 and 424 near today's Middle School District office complex. In 1825, George Washington Parish moved from its original location within present day Beaver Falls to create another parish within present day Whitehall Township - Chestnut Hill Parish - which included much of what is now Westmoreland County including much of present-day Monongahela County including parts of modern Day Allegheny and Armstrong counties as well as Muskegon and Wayne Counties This new parish would be renamed Arlington Parish after President James Koury when he became bishopric president for Pennsylvania in 1829 Under Bishop Koury's direction, Arlington Parish annexed much of Westmoreland County northward until it reached just beyond Beaver Falls into Monongahela County where it absorbed all but a tiny piece of that county eastward until it stretched all the way to Butler County . On October 15th 1830 (the date below), while under Bishop Koury's direction Arlington Parish annexed portions (northwest) of Butler and Lawrence Counties until it reached Clearfield township forming today's Clearfield Borough . Finally, during Bishop Puryear's administration on November 8th 1830 (the date below) Arlington Parish attained full annexation by Westmoreland county reaching its ultimate extent encompassing everything east from Beaver Falls through Monongahela and Butler counties becoming "Whitehall" borough once again with all its current boundaries
