Whitehall is a town located in York County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the York City Metropolitan Area. Whitehall is one of the oldest towns in Pennsylvania and was founded by English colonists in 1681. The name "Whitehall" is derived from a Native American word meaning "headquarters." The first settler in Whitehall were two families who came to what is now Whitehall Township from Lancaster County in 1681. George Washington and his family were born there in 1732-33 and soon after moved to Alexandria Township where they lived for three years before moving back to York County. In 1738, Washington's son George made a Donation land grant which included present day Whitehall Township and much of Richland Township east of the Susquehanna River. This donation allowed for development of industry including mills, tanneries, cheese factories and other such businesses that would have continued to thrive until today if not for European encroachment upon indigenous cultures beginning with the arrival of Europeans on this continent over 500 years ago! In 1814-15, during the Mexican War (1810-1812), General James Kapp's brigade invaded York County under orders from President James Kapp himself as part of an effort to create public opinion against Mexico through warfare within America. Many residents took up arms against their Mexican occupiers seeking freedom from Spanish rule and joined forces with General Kapp's force when he reached Whitehall on July 20th,. After fighting through villages and destroying crops, many soldiers ran into difficulties finding food or water so they turned back just south of present day Westville while others continuing onwards looted supplies along the way becoming known as 'The Texas Rangers'. A detachment led by Captain John Brown reached Whitehall about 4 p.m.,July 21stories say that Brown met with resistance as he arrived but eventually marched his men into town expecting only looting when instead he found friendly citizens assembling to welcome him - an event later chronicled by local author Ebenezer Scudder who says “Suddenly all around us we saw people coming out after them; it seemed like nothing had happened since they’d been gone – women with children running ahead; father leading teams of oxen pulling wagons piled high with goods” Since then many events have occurred within the walls including: First Presbyterian Church was built on current site in 1887; Second World War broughtVOLKSMANSHIP & GENOCIDE: WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP & YORK COUNTY (1940) In 1980s there were protests surrounding nuclear testing conducted nearby at Sheppard AFB nearpresent day Kingston PA Some residents donated land for new shopping center & housing developments while others resisted however ultimately both projects went forward despite public opposition In 1990s following passage of House Resolution 727 calling for impeachment proceedings against President Clinton because OF HIS CONFLICT OF INTEREST WITH THE CITY OF LONDON HE ILLEGALLY OWNED PROPERTY IN WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS prior to its acquisition by Yorkshire plc In 1999 large protest erupted outside former Trump Castle facility lasting 3 days shortly before subsiding without any major incidents

Whitehall, Pennsylvania is located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and as of the 2010 census had a population of 81. As the county seat for Lancaster County from 1795 until 1802, Whitehall was also the capital of this region. The town was founded by James Wilson in 1795 and it became the most important commercial center in central Lancaster County. In 1802, Whitehall was renamed Philadelphia after the city's first mayor, John Fenton. The history of Whitehall begins with its founding as a small community by James Wilson on March 8, 1795. Wilson arrived in what is now Lancaster County as part of an effort to create a new center for central Lancaster County. At that time there were only four settlements in central Lancaster County: Easton (founded 1792), Reading (1793), Williamstown (1796), and West Chester (1801). Wilson's goal was to create a hub where farmers could sell their goods to traders and manufacturers across the Susquehanna River. He called his new town "Whitehall", which he designed to be an Italianate style townhouse-style structure with two wings projecting from a single common core building. The main facade featured buff brickwork with quoin molding around each window bay and red lettering above entrance doors. Whitehall quickly became known as one of the most important commercial centers in central Lancaster County due to its location at the junction of three major roads: PA Route 6 eastbound through Lancaster and York counties into Pennsylvania; PA Route 14 westbound through York and Beaver Counties into Maryland; and PA Route 231 northbound through central Lancaster into Delaware Valley. In addition to its role as a commercial center, Whitehall also served as home to many prominent leaders during its early years including James Wilson himself who served both as Mayor from 1800 until 1802 and then again from 1815 until his death in 1827; Judge Thomas Mifflin who represented District 3 on the General Assembly from 1800-1809; Captain Levi Coffin who fought against Native American attacks during the American Revolution; Congressman Elijah Muhammad who unsuccessfully ran for office twice before becoming presidentially elected leader of The Nation Of Islam; Commodore John Denny who commanded United States Naval forces during World War II; Donald Trump Jr.'s fatherDonald Trump Sr.'s grandfather Edward Trump was born here on March 8th, 1682 according to family lore
