Whitehall is a town inAdams County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,715 at the 2010 census. Whitehall is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Whitehall Township was Ezekiel Coleman in 1786. The township was established on November 3, 1787. The first post office in Whitehall Township was established on December 5, 1823. The town of Whitehall was chartered by James Wilson on October 15, 1814 as a result of the Mexican–American War and initial peace negotiations between the United States and Mexico City. On July 10, 1821, General Andrew Jackson's Expedition against Mexico resulted in one-third of all Mexicans being killed or captured along with many additional settlers fleeing to North America during that campaign including James Wilson and his family who took up land east of the Monongahela River just south of present day Greencastle which they named "Whitehall" after their home state of New York City where they had been born and raised while their father served as U.S Ambassador to Spain from 1800-1801 In 1836 it became part of the new Indiana Territory following its organization into states within that territory following the Kansas–Nebraska Act which repealed Missouri's admission to Confederation as an independent nation with slavery (in addition to Kansas). On January 14th, 1861 – one week before President Abraham Lincoln announced his Emancipation Proclamation - soldiers under Brigadier General John Custer discovered Indian Posse encampment near what is now West Pennsburg Township on Little Big Horn Creek about due west from present day Whitehalltown limits and opened fire killing all but six men: three officers - Captain Jacob Henshaw (age 26), Surgeon Charles Goodnight (age 24) and Private Meriwether Lewis (aged 20) - plus private John Dennison (aged 16). Prior to this date there had been no reports or evidence suggesting any hostile activity by Native Americans towards white settlers adjacent thereto since both sides were still functioning under Treaty negotiated by US Secretaryof War Edwin Stanton with Chiefs Chief Josephs at Fort Donelson two days prior On September 12th 1865 General Philip Sheridan's forces attacked Ft Dodge just north of here resulting in over 100 civilian casualties including women and children when Major Stephen Kearny's cavalry brigade supports artillery bombardment destroyed main buildings within minutes leaving thousands homeless for weeks afterwards

Whitehall is a town in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,846 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Whitehall was founded in 1753 by George Washington and is located about northwest of Philadelphia on the Delaware River between Reading and Downingtown. The first white settler in what became Whitehall was John Dunkerley, who arrived from England around 1754. He built a log cabin near present-day Whitehall Township on the banks of the Beaverkill River. The early settlers were Quakers who believed that all men are created equal and should be treated equally under law. In 1803, President James K. Polk established Whitehall as one of four townships within the new state of Pennsylvania which he named for his presidential predecessor George Washington—the others being Pittsburg Landing, Bethlehem, and Westmoreland Township. This gave rise to the name "White Hall" which still remains today in most areas where people live or work outside of Philadelphia proper (e.g., Bucks County). In 1825, when Pennsylvania became a state, Whiteshall voted to secede from Delaware County and become its own independent township with its own government – but this vote failed to gain approval from other counties within Pennsylvania's newly formed Commonwealth (see Unionist Rebellion). When Andrew Johnson became president in 1865 and ordered Reconstruction policies that favored black citizens over whites throughout much of America following their victory in the American Civil War – includingPennsylvania – Whiteshall also sided with Johnson against his Republican opponent Abraham Lincoln (see Brown v Board of Education case). Consequently, many residents left Whiteshall during Reconstruction for destinations such as Pittsburgh or Baltimore City – leaving only a small core population behind which continues to celebrate its history and culture today. Today's economy largely depends on services provided by Duquesne University* (a large public university located adjacent to White hall) as well as nearby Steel City Manufacturing Company*, two shopping malls*, several restaurants*, three libraries*, two golf courses* (one now closed), an ice rink*(opened 2005), active duty military barracks(* closing 2013), more than 100 businesses (* excludingDuquesne University*) based out of or employing more than 400 employees nearby according to PA Economic Development Authority data††; * denotes contiguous boroughs not included therein
Whitehall was originally a small community in what is now the Borough of Whitehall, Pennsylvania. It was founded in 1768 by Captain John Forbes and his family as a means of transporting goods over the Susquehanna River. The first settler in Whitehall was James Buchanan, who arrived in 1793. In 1814, Whitehall became part of the newly created township of Huntingdon. On July 1, 1827, Huntingdon officially became a village when it joined the Township of Northampton. On November 3, 1829, Northampton merged with Huntingdon to form the new borough of Whitehall. The population of Whitehall increased rapidly during the late 19th century due to increased traffic on the Susquehanna River and development along its banks. In 1911, white enthusiasts from across northeast Pennsylvania gathered at White Hall for an annual summer picnic that lasted until September 4th. This event is considered to be the first modern tourism promotion in Bucks County. An important milestone occurred on October 9th, 1912 when President Woodrow Wilson announced his intention to create a national park at Mount Airy within existing Huntingdon Township. The park would become known as Mount Airy National Park and remain unincorporated until 1994 when it became part of Delaware County under then-Governor Tom Ridge's administration and remains open today as one of America's most popular tourist destinations offering many activities such as hiking and camping available for visitors throughout year round without having to leave their home town!
