The American Revolution was a time of great change and upheaval. The army was the key to this revolution, and the unit that played the most important role was the artillery regiment. The first artillery regiment was organized on December 6, 1775, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. The regiment consisted of 100 men and served in the war for two years. It is interesting to note that these early cannons were not very accurate, but they were very powerful and could destroy anything in their way. Even though the cannon squadron failed to achieve victory at Saratoga during the war, it did play an important role in helping win independence from Great Britain. After Independence was won, many of these cannons were used by General George Washington to bombard British positions throughout America. In 1814-1815, another artillery regiment was organized in Waynesboro. This regiment became known as Company K (Light Artillery). This unit served under General David Hunter during the War of 1812. It is interesting to note that this company’s gunners did a great job against Native Americans during this time period! Today, there are still units of artillery Regiment present in our military service- both light and medium units! These units are essential for performing tasks such as peacekeeping duty or support operations within our communities!

The Waynesboro Volunteer Infantry was a volunteer infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. The regiment was organized at Waynesboro, Pennsylvania on July 12, 1861, and mustered into service on October 16th. The regiment fought in the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862, and in the Battle of Sharpsburg on October 14, 1862. The regiment also participated in the Battle of Fredericksburg on November 9, 1862. In December 1862, the regiment was transferred to the Department of Virginia and attached to General George Buell's army. On January 15th 1863 they were transferred back to General Buell's army and fought at Chancellorsville. They participated in the Gettysburg Campaign and surrendered at Appomattox Court House on April 9th 1865.
Waynesboro is a small town in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Waynesboro is located on the southern edge of the Monongahela Valley and on the border of Perry Township and Armstrong Township. The region around Waynesboro formed in the late 18th century as part of what were then British colonies. The community was founded by John Nicholson in 1796, when he land grant to himself and his brothers Edward and Thomas Nicholson. In 1827, George Stephenson donated land to Waynesboro for a public school district. The town's first post office opened in 1828. In 1865, Waynesboro became part of the newly created Commonwealth of Pennsylvania following its merger with MarylandCounty. At that time, it had a population of just over 100 people. By 1880, however, the population had increased to more than 300 people because of immigration from Ireland and other parts of Europe. In 1907-08, waynesborougheap Municipal Corporation was established to provide services such as road maintenance and library operations for residents; it remains an integral part of town today. Waynesboro has been known for its cheese since at least 1800s; local legend says that early settlers named their new village "Cheeseville" after purchasing some cheese they found while exploring rural Northumberland County (now Armstrong Township). Cheese production continued until about 1920 when there were so few customers left in town that local farmers stopped producing it entirely. However, cheese still remains an important part oftown culture today with many restaurants serving up various types or variations on this classic product including sour cream (which locals call "Parmesan"), blue cheese dressing (made from blueberry milk), brie cheese (made from cows' milk), camembert (a typeof goat’s milk cream cheese), cottage cheese (from cow’s milk), feta (an Italian sheep’s milk cheesemaking product)
