When the national guard was first organized in 1792, they were known as the Militia of Pennsylvania. The militia was formed to protect the state's borders and rights against attack by other states. In 1814, the militia was renamed the Army ofthe United States. Throughout its history, the national guard has been a vital part of American society. The first national guard unit in Washington, Pennsylvania was organized on April 12, 1792. At that time, Washington constituted a district within Philadelphia County. The unit consisted of six companies made up of men from various parts of Pennsylvania and Maryland. Each company had a captain and two lieutenants who acted as commanders-in-chief. On July 16, 1800, General James Klinkenborg ordered all units in Philadelphia County to assemble at Second Street and Market Street for muster out under his command. During this mobilization process, Captains John Pritchard and Levi Coffin led their companies towards Lancasterburgh until they reached Uniontown where they rendezvoused with Captain Abraham Van Ness' company from Cumberland County which also joined forces with Klinkenborg's force on September 8th. In 1814, when the army was reorganized into a division under General Winfield Scott Office (1802-1865), National Guard units were placed within each brigade under separate command lieutenant colonel commanding officers with Battery Jeffries commanding one regiment each batteries being commanded by Cols Cranch & Howlett with Companies D & G commanded respectively by Lieutenants Hargrave & Fenton After duty in West Point through winter 1815-'16; unit went home on sick leave October 10th; arrived at Allegheny Valley November 3d for encampment near present day Yorktown Barracks National Military ParkNovember 9th - December 5th . . . National Guard units served throughout the Mexican War (1846-48) while stationed at various posts along US border including Brownsville (January 6 - March 24), El Paso (April 2 – May 9), Chihuahua City (May 15 – June 20) and Monterrey (July 2 – August 19). While there some soldiers served concurrently as Volunteers or militiamen/citizen volunteers while others enlisted full time in military service During World War I all troops serving except those required for training returned home without combat duty on November 7th 1918 After Armistice Americans returned home to find theirBonus400 acres had reverted back to Mexico

The Washington, Pennsylvania National Guard was founded on May 1, 1792 as the First Regiment of Militia of the United States. The regiment was called to action by George Washington in response to a call for volunteers to quash a perceived French attack on his forces at Mount Vernon. In 1814, the regiment became part of the 3rd Infantry Brigade under Colonel George Armstrong Custer during the Mexican-American War. From 1846 through 1861, the regiment served in Ohio and Kentucky as part of Brigadier General Winfield Scott's division during the American Civil War. The regiment participated in engagements at Perryville, Second Manassas Junction, Fort Donelson and Chattanooga. On January 14, 1865, after Ulysses S. Grant's victory at Appomattox Court House following two years of military campaigning across Virginia and Georgia, all troops within Confederate territory were mustered out by order of Governor Andrew Johnson into Federal service as per Executive Order No. 9066; this includes all members of the Washington State National Guard who had not already resigned or been discharged before that date. The Washington State National Guard reorganized on February 1st with new officers and men from other states east of Mason Dixon Line (Delaware, New Jersey etc.). On March 15th it received its present name - The Pennsylvania National Guardsmen - from then on all units were known as "The Pennsylvaniaans" until disbanded in 1946 due to federal law relating to state militias having their own names only when they are actually organized under a specific banner such as "Army", "Air Force" or "Navy".

In 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt created the National Guards Bureau within the Department of War to help organized state militias into federalized units that could participate in peacekeeping missions abroad. The bureau also helped create manuals on how to raise additional troops and improve logistical support for these peacekeeping missions. These donations were instrumental in helping make World War I less devastating for America and contributed to America’s emergence as a world power after World War II. Today, there are over 199 million active duty members of the National Guard nationwide, making it one ofAmerica’s most powerful militaries. The Guard can provide goods and services such as security at events such as Super Bowl halftime shows or Lollapalooza festivalivals; help prepare for natural disasters like hurricanes or wildfires; provide training for law enforcement officers; or assist during homeland defense exercises like Jade Helm 15 training exercises held every two years across portionsof Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma
The National Guard was first activated on April 14, 1792. It wasn't until the end of World War II that the National Guard was elevated to a full-time military force.
Washington is a small town in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. Washington was one of the original thirteen colonies and became a part of the United States of America on July 4, 1776. It is located in Montgomery County. The town has been inhabited by Native Americans for over two centuries and was first mentioned in 1682 when Captain Jonathan Harmison noted that there were "a great many Indian wigwams" hereabouts. In 1812, Washington Township was formed from parts of Potter and Huntingdon Townships, but it reverted to its earlier form as an independent township within Montgomery County on February 15th, 1814 following a referendum vote by its residents. In 1836, Washington Township was divided into three sections: Allentown-Washington Section (northwest corner), Damascus-Allentown Section (southwest corner), and Pottersville-Allentown Section (east side). On January 1st, 1894 portions of Allentown-WashingtonSection and Damascus-Allentown Section were annexed to neighboring Westminster Borough; however, Westminster never ratified this annexation and remained separate from all other municipalities within Montgomery County until 1898 when it formally joined with all other municipalities within the new county government under the name of Washington Township. On November 6th, 1907 Washington had its first election as a borough; however, due to boundary changes made within Montgomery County during World War II it did not join any other municipalities in forming what would later be known as Delaware County. However, because Delaware County was created from parts of BucksCounty which also included portions of Montgomery Counties including Washington Township, Delaware County officials have always considered Washington Township part thereof even though it technically remains unincorporated within that county system. In recent years there have been efforts to bring back some aspects associated with local history such as visits by American Indians along with displays about local industries still operating today or events like annual Pumpkin patch Day where people can go out
Washington, Pennsylvania was a small town in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania during the mid-19th century. The area now includes the city of Allentown and much of northcentral PA. Washington was first settled in 1798 by Timothy Bucknell and his family. The post office at Washington was established in 1814 and named for George Washington. It remained in operation until 1903. In 1873, a schoolhouse and store were built on what is now State Street in Allentown. The store continued to operate until 1870 when it burned down. In 1886, a station wagon depot was built across the street from the old store on Northampton Avenue in Allentown. This depot served as an interchange for wagons coming from east, west, south and northbound routes 65 and 90 all the way to Bethlehem Steel Company yards located just east of downtown Allentown In 1907, part of Clearfield County became part of Huntingdon County while other parts remained within Clearfield County until 1912 when they were merged into BeaverCounty
