Uniontown, PA is a small town in Juniata County, Pennsylvania located on the Susquehanna River. The population was 5,817 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Altoona-Johnstown-Weirton, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first shooters in Uniontown were farmers and their families who hunted and fished throughout the area. In 1868, George Hennepin organized a hunt for deer at Clearfield Lake. At that time there were only a few shotguns in use and hunting was done with bows and arrows. The first shotgun to be imported into Uniontown was an American Arms Model 1871 pistol grip shotgun from New York City. In 1886, Wm J Meyer bought land east of Old Forge on which he built his own pistol range and rifle range. He also started selling Bullets (shotguns) to locals and visitors from all over Pennsylvania as well as Maryland and Virginia. Around this time, local gunsmiths began making rifles such as Winchester Model 1892’s (later models), Remington Model 870’s (later models), Browning Hi-Power pistols (.380ACP) etc., using cast iron frames with recoil stricken mechanisms instead of wooden ones like those used before. These firearms became known as "Meyer guns." In 1907, Augustus Averill erected a gristmill on the south side of town; it became one of the earliest commercial mills in Uniontown when it began turning out flour for local homes and businesses including banks and stores near downtown . By 1915 there were six businesses in Uniontown doing business under one roof: two hotels, three grain elevators/storage buildings,, four grocery stores,, two printing plants,, one carpenter shop,. By 1920 there were ten businesses in Uniontown employing over 100 people.: two hotels/motels/, three grain elevators/storage buildings/, four grocery stores/, five printing plants/,six carpenters shops/. In 1927 a new mill was built across the Susquehanna River just upstream from where Meyer's old mill had been destroyed by fire years earlier (). This mill became known as "The Star" after its founder - John Averill Sr.). During World War II most of these businesses closed due to wartime restrictions on trade however some reopened once again during peace time.. Locals continue to employ many workers today through companies such as Home Depot (), Lowe's (), Sears (), Macy's () etc

Uniontown is a town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1794 by Scotch-Irish settlers from North Carolina as a stopping point on the Lehigh Valley Railroad. By 1800, Uniontown had become an agricultural center with more than 100 farms and ranches. In 1824, Independence Day celebration saw the first public meeting in Uniontown since its foundation. The first schoolhouse was built in 1828 and soon became home to a number of schools including one for girls that opened in 1859. A post office called Uniontown was established in 1836, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. The name "Union" came from the fact that many of the early settlers were from union County, Ireland. In 1861, during the American Civil War,Uniontown stood as one of three military camps along what became known as "The line of battle." Confederate General Robert Ewell's army invaded Pennsylvania on November 12th 1862 and began their march through Lancaster County towards Philadelphia; Uniontown lay between Ewell's forces and the main road north to Gettysburg about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of Lancaster City limits). A skirmish took place near Uniontown on December 1st when Confederate Lieutenant Colonel James Heth attacked a detachment of Pennsylvania Militia under Captain John Fenton while they were traveling south on Route 19 from Scranton to Bethlehem along Old York Road; five men were killed (Heth being convicted later that year of manslaughter) while Fenton escaped unharmed with his horseWagoner into Carlisle Borough where he rendezvoused with his brigade under General George Thomas at White Hall Tavern before marching back into Lancaster County two days later - an event which has been immortalized by songwriter Bob Dylan in his song "The Times They Are A-Changin'" On Saturday morning January 2nd 1863 seven hundred men4of Company K3Sherman's Texas Rangers who had been ordered upcountry against Lee's Army marched down Market Street to join their comrades around Main Street opposite Mr Stone’s Furniture Store adjoining School House No 3 & 4 – “a fine old sod building now used as an animal stable” according to History Channel docudrama “ Unforgivable Acts: Sherman’s Raiders At Gettysburg ” One man reported seeing fifty Yankee soldiers just outside Mr Stone’s store but no shots were fired! This peaceful demonstration resulted only incidentally in one soldier being wounded although significant damage was done inside – windows were smashed & several pieces thrown off roof onto slave quarters below & stables across street! Just prior to this raid some negroes working for Mrs Stone near School House No 2 got up earlySaturday morning before sunrise noises coming from cow pastures nearby so went over there seen Captured 7 Yankees standing around Slaughtering cows etc then ran back avoiding capture & never spoke about it again till today! Uniontown is a town in Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. Uniontown was named for the union of three towns in 1787 which were all part of Huntingdon County. The first permanent settlers in Uniontown were James Beck and his family who arrived around 1789. They built a log cabin on the corner of Elm and Market Streets and started trading with other farmers in what is now Huntingdon County and neighboring Blair County. In 1802, James Beck's widow, Peggy, moved to Uniontown with her two children from Cumberland Township in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania to take up residence with their father and start a new life after years of relocation problems caused by the Revolutionary War. By 1806, there were five families living in Uniontown: Beck-Peggy Smith Dullinger-John Brown-George Hargrave/Happis-James Patton. In 1814,[1] Thomas Dunn became the first white settler when he purchased land from John Brown near present day Beaver Falls Boulevard and State Road 83 (now US 60). He built a small cabin on what is now Fairview Avenue within one year of moving into his land which he called "Dunn's Ferry" because it provided easy access to both Beaver Falls Creek (then known as Monongahela River) west of town and Susquehanna River east of town across Dunn's ferry landing on Clearfield Creek. A few years later he added another cabin on this site which still stands today - this one being used as offices for Mountain View Coal & Coke Company until 1984 when it was acquired by Penn Central Railroad (now Conrail). In 1821[2] Daniel Snyder bought some additional land adjacent to Dunn's Ferry Landing along Clearfield Creek from Thomas Dunn so that he could build a millrace for drainage purposes; this millrace remains fully operational today as Beaver Falls Boulevard runs through its center although it has been greatly truncated due to development over the years. In 1830,[3] George Hargrave married Sarah Nash who had come about eight miles away from Unionsville refugees living on Main Street between Harrisburg Road (now US 11) and Fifth Street (now Allegheny Ave), just north of wherepresent day Uniontown starts.[4] They also erected their first home in what is now Uniontown – an unheated log cabin at 6th Street West near Fourth Avenue – but they soon replaced it with a more imposing brick structure that still stands today.[5][6] By 1840[7],Uniontown had become an important stagecoach stop located about six miles southwest of downtown Pittsburgh along State Road 812 southbound on Butler Hill Road between York Pike (then PA Route 22) and Third Street West before turning east onto Sunbury Pike (now SR 724).[8][9][10] At that time there were also several stores located here including those operated by John Snyder himself including Oneida Store #1 open since 1794 at 4th Place East where current day US 11 intersects York Pike; Two Taverns open since 1800 at Sixth Place East; Five Points store opened 1830 closed 1840; Merchant Tailor store opened 1800 closed 1840; Gristmill established 1782 open until 1861; Baker’s Shop opened 1800 closed 1840 snake oil production began around 1800 concurrent with nearby foundry activity northeast of town creating what is now Middleton Township while large ironworks operated southeast side producing nails beginning around1800 concurrent with local limestone quarrying operations developing into what are now parts Ofheraldsburg Boroughs

The town also developed into a major transportation hub due to its location at the intersection of two main roads in central Pennsylvania. The town experienced prosperity during its early years, thanks to its natural resources and entrepreneurial spirit. However, the Panic of 1837 caused significant economic decline in Uniontown. Afterward, the town began to experience modest growth until the late 19th century when new industrial concerns arrived in the area. In recent decades, Uniontown has become a small suburb located primarily within central Pennsylvania.
