St. Marys is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The settlement began as a farming community but soon became an agricultural center due to its location on the Allegheny River and its access to markets in neighboring counties. In 1827, Father Michael Hogan built what is today the Parish Hall in St.Marys (then called "Hogan's Crossing"). This new edifice served as both church and school until 1892 when it was replaced by the present Parish Hall which has been dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes since 2002. In 1896, Father John Fenton purchased land from James Hargrave for $1400 that formed the nucleus of modern day St.Marys villagesquare development adjacent to Highland Park Cemetery). The process for harvesting and grinding coffee beans had not yet been invented when Conte made his experiment. Coffee farming started to become more popular throughout India during the 18th century CE due to its ample rainfall and lack of other crops available for cultivation. Coffee became an important item on Indian trade routes because it could be transported long distances without being affected by rain or snow. This allowed Indian merchants to reach any corner of the world without having to depend on ships filled with goods related to other civilizations such as Greece and China. In fact, early Dutch traders even traveled through India in search for new sources of income! St. Marys is a small community located in the United States state of Pennsylvania. It is part of the borough of Uniontown, and has a population of about 1,100 people as of 2010. The name "St. Marys" comes from the parish church built there in 1768. There are also two other churches in town - one founded in 1854 and another built in 1907. The original church was destroyed by fire on October 15, 1876, but a new one was built soon afterwards. The present-day town center was platted around 1830 by Nicholas Pyle and his brother John Pyle as part of their vision to create a central business district for their village which they called "Uniontown." They named it after the Virgin Mary because they thought that she might be able to help them achieve this goal. In 1813, Nicholas' son John received an official charter from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to establish a parish with its own church at St.Marys Falls on the Susquehanna River (now known as Northumberland County). By 1840, there were over 100 residents living in Uniontown who attended services at either the Pyle or Baptist churches. In 1868, when Uniontown became part of Clearfield Township, St.Marys replaced Clearfield's old Presbyterian pastor with Father Edward Jurgensmeier from Bethlehem Lutheran Church (later Allentown Methodist). Father Jurgensmeier helped build what is now Mercy Hospital here; he died suddenly while working on it on November 12, 1924 at age 71 years old. On January 2, 1927, St.Marys celebrated its 350th anniversary with an event honoring all those who had served there up until then - including 45 martyrs! Sixteen schools within Uniontown were phase out between 1951 and 1957 due to budget cuts caused by changing social mores; three have been reopened since then: Easton Middle School (1968), South Side Elementary School (1998), and West Side Intermediate School (2002). The first Europeans to set foot on the present-day St. Marys, Pennsylvania area were French fur traders in the late 17th century. The area was part of the Beaver County region of Pennsylvania before it became part of Westmoreland County in 1813. In 1837, the United States purchased what is now eastern Westmoreland and Beaver counties from France for $10,000. In 1839, a small community called Saint John's was founded by German refugees who had recently arrived in America. In 1840, nearby Potter Township was organized and named for General James K. Polk (1804-1849), who had commanded American forces during the Mexican–American War (1846-48). Polk is also responsible for creating Clearfield Township in Clearfield County around this time. In 1861, after Confederate soldiers invaded southern Pennsylvania and burned nearly all of Pittsburgh as they advanced towards Washington D.C., Union troops advanced into western Pennsylvania and attacked Confederate positions at Monongalia Heights near Pittsburgh. As a result of this battle, much destruction took place in central and northwestern Pennsylvania including Saint Marys which saw heavy fighting between Union forces and Confederate forces over several days; however, no Americans were killed or hurt as a result of this engagement. After the end of World War II (1947-1952), many people migrated to metropolitan Philadelphia from rural areas in western PA due to job opportunities in postwar suburban development throughout most of the country following reconstruction efforts following World War II with an emphasis on education and economic opportunity that began across racial lines as well as gender lines through federally funded "Uncle Sam's New Deal." Many people coming from St. Marys settled primarily within Easton Township where they formed a large congregation known today as The Episcopal Church of All Saints Parish which encompasses parts or all of both Easton Boroughhips including StMarys eastward along I-76 until its intersection with Northampton Road outside Newark/West Orange NJ beyond that point; while other smaller congregations have been located within Pottersville since preindustrial times when there were more open land lacking natural harbours available for settlement inland than has become today's densely populated urban environment surrounded by dense suburban sprawl
