The Pennsylvania Coast Guard was formed in 1795 as the United States Army's first military coast guard. The original uniforms of the Coast Guard were knickerbocker type clothes, and most members were unpaid volunteers. On October 14, 1814, then-Governor David Trumbull created a state militia to supplement the U.S. Navy's coastal defense functions and appoint a coast guard captain for each town on the Delaware River between Philadelphia and Camden. The first Captain was Samuel Denny from Gloucester County. In 1827, Congress authorized appropriations for a permanent coast guard service with a salary for officers and men. On November 1, 1840, President James K. Polk signed into law "An act to provide for organizing and arming the coastguard of the United States" which gave rise to the present day Coast Guard organization in its present form with both civilian personnel (the National Guardsmen) and active duty military personnel (the Marines) under one command. Since its inception as an arm of government, the Coast Guard has played an important role in keeping our coastline safe from pirates, smugglers, drugs traffickers, etc., while also fostering strong relationships with our local communities - something that continues to this day!
The Coast Guard is a vital part of the United States’ maritime security and has been providing emergency services since 1790. In 1978, the Coast Guard initiated its first gift program to support community service projects. This program continues to this day and provides unique opportunities for those in the Coast Guard who wish to make a difference in the lives of others. Since its inception, the Coast Guard Gift Program has awarded more than $2 million in gifts to provide goods and services to local organizations across the United States. The recipient can be any organization that desires, including churches, schools, libraries, hospitals, or governmental agencies. The generous nature of the Coast Guard Gift Program is evident from its inception. Nearly all of the gifts have been worth at least $100 and many have exceeded $1,000. The majority of recipients are nonprofit organizations that need little or no financial assistance in order to participate in these programs; however, there are also a few government agencies that have received donations through this program as well. One recent example is Project Protector which was bestowed with a gift of nearly $3,000 by Commandant David Wojcik II during his visit to Jacksonville last year. This project helps protect vulnerable communities along Florida’s Gulf coast from crime and abuse by assisting law enforcement officers with training and equipment needed for their efforts. In addition to helping law enforcement officers do their job better, this donation also supports responsible development within our community by giving back into local economies through education grants and business partnerships created throughout Operation Protector’s lifespan! As one aspect of our broader commitment towards maritime security and public safety on our nation’s shores – both large-scale endeavors like Project Protector as well as smaller initiatives such as donated clothes or tools – gifts from members of the Coast Guard are essential ingredients in ensuring we can keep our citizens safe while visiting coastal areas!
The Coast Guard first arrived in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1903. The original Coast Guard station was located at the old Parker House on Main Street. In 1915, a new station was built on the current site of the Point Breeze shopping center. In 1951, the Coast Guard Station in Reading enlarged and moved to its current location on Park Row.
Reading, Pennsylvania is a town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,916 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The first settler in Reading was Captain John Smith who founded what is now known as Lancaster on December 12, 1753. He purchased land from the Lenape and built a small cabin there. In 1757 he married Susannah St Clair and they moved to Clearfield Township where they had four children: James (1758-1835), Sarah (1760-1840), John (1762-1847) and William (1764-1852). The family then moved to Mifflin Township in 1814 when Captain Smith's son William bought land there. When the Erie Canal was completed in 1825, Reading became an important center for shipping goods through it. However, during World War I its importance decreased because of military shipments going through Pittsburgh instead. In 1915 Reading became home to the largest textile factory in America when Eastern Film Corporation established its plant there; it continued manufacturing films until 1957. In 1980 Philips Lighting announced that it would be moving its entire headquarters from Scranton, PA to Reading after purchasing Bethlehem Steel Corporation's lighting plants in 1979. At that time over 1 million people were employed at Phillips Lighting locations across North America including those in Reading and Yorktown Heights near New York City. In 2000 Area Data Systems unit merged with two other companies forming Accenture plc., one of which was Eastman Kodak Company's North American headquarters before being sold off to Adobe Systems Incorporated on October 1st 2006 for $2 billion USD effective January 1st 2007 making this one of the biggest corporate mergers ever undertaken at that time! After years of struggles with eCommerce software startup Overstock.com taking over much of their core business services due to antitrust concerns Accenture pulled out all together achieving profitability but still falling behind online rival Amazon Web Services! On July 2nd 2018Accenture announced they will be selling their Plastics division back to Dow Chemical Co due to dwindling market demand for plastics products

Reading, Pennsylvania is a small town located in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania. The population was 8,814 at the 2000 census. It is bordered by Bethlehem to the east and Allentown to the west. Reading was founded in 1795 as a post office on the eastern border of Bethlehem Township by John Dickinson and James Wilson. The first settlers were farmers who raised corn, beans, and other vegetables until 1800. In 1802 Reading was incorporated as an independent borough, and in 1809 it became a township with a population of 924. In 1898 Reading became part of the new United States state of Pennsylvania after its creation from parts of four separate states. On October 15, 1800, Philadelphia's mayoralty met in Reading to create this new state based on results of a referendum held two days earlier that had shown overwhelming support for independence from England. At this time most residents in what would become Lancaster County lived on farms near Pittsburgh or nearby Yorktown Heights while those living in larger towns like Philadelphia or Allentown made their income through trade or manufacturing activities. Because reading did not yet exist as an official community within Pennsylvania it carried no voting power at this early stage but it did serve as a staging ground for events leading up to the statehood referendum later that year. After becoming part of Pennsylvania we saw rapid growth thanks to immigrants coming into our small town seeking opportunities unavailable to them back home such as jobs in industry or service-providing businesses like hotels and restaurants which quickly attracted workers from all over America looking for good paying jobs well away from home prohibition had created waves of social unrest across North America threatening business stability and even economic decline Not only were these kinds of opportunities rare but they also came with risks - many people coming intoreadng during this time period were young men freshly arrived from rural areas where there wasn't much opportunity available outside traditional family values so they were ill-prepared for major life changes such as starting their own families etc In addition many residents here didn't initially understand what democracy really meant because they'd grown up under English rule where elections were conducted by appointed officials rather than via popular vote This lack of familiarity may have played into anger & frustration among some colonists when they voted against secession Ilan Pappe points out that "At best...the memory [of] those days ...may be dimmed" (Pappe 443) Nevertheless after narrowly missing being admitted to both Virginia & Maryland during ratification proceedings following his inauguration Ulysses S Grant issued an executive order calling for all former British colonies (includingReading) "to send forthone man...to plead their cause before Congress" (Grant 376) This bombshell announcement left little doubt about what future consequences lay ahead for tiny READING should it choose not To secede From Britain Our decision clearly laid bare our readiness & willingness To stand side By Side With The Other American Colonies As Long As They Were Kind To Us (& We Took Care Of Our Own Business)...
