These include the aforementioned civic building (now known as First United Methodist Church), three blocks north of Broadway Avenue (later renamed State Street), Potter's House (now known as Hotel Lancaster), and two blocks east of Second Avenue (now known as University Avenue). The early years of pottery production were difficult for Potter's House because it lacked equipment necessary to produce high-quality wareware products. However, through hard work and persistent investment over time, Potter's House became one of the leading potters in America during this time period. In addition to their successful business ventures, Abram Potts' wife Hetty developed an important philanthropic activity within their community: she established local schools which provided education for poor children throughout central Pennsylvania during this time period. As these institutions grew into successful colleges- Stroudsburg Female Academy in1829 and Dickinson College in1839- Abramspottsy philanthropy came to be highly respected within their community even after his death twenty years later due to his distinction in business achievements alone! During World War II, many local farmers joined forces with other American citizens inside Nazi Germany against Axis forces during World War II. Many residents chose not to fight because they believed that they could do more good serving their country than joining what they saw as evil forces firsthand; however, some did choose service due to patriotism or economic reasons related thereto such as low wages available back home while working under enemy occupation conditions outside the United States shoreslines!
