There is no one definitive account of how coffee was first roasted in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. However, some historians believe that the beans were roasted on a small family farmstead known as The Bean Mill. In 1892, the mill was sold to J.P. Lambertson and his sons and it continued to be run by the Lambertsons until 1957. During this time, they also began roasting their own coffee for sale under the name "The Coffee House." In 1957, J.P. Lambertson's son-in-law and brother-in-law purchased the business from their father and started operating it as The Coffee House again. They continued to roast and sell their own coffee until 1994 when they closed down due to financial difficulties. However, in 2007, a new company called Beans Unlimited LLC bought The Coffee House from its last owner and reopened it as a café with local roasting rights back into place. Since then, Beans Unlimited has been continue running The Coffee House with fresh roasted beans continuously throughout the year.
Pottstown is a town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,827 at the 2010 census. The name "Pottstown" is derived from Pottsville, a small community located to the east of Pottstown on the Susquehanna River. The first settlers in what is now Pottstown were farmers and their families who arrived around 1784. They named their new town after Colonel John Potter, an Englishman who had come to America as part of an exploratory party led by Major George Washington in 1785. In 1812, General Anthony Wayne's army destroyed farmsteads and barns in what is now Pottstown following a battle near the town site. In 1828, Congress approved the erection of a post office at Pottstown with James Dennison as its first postmaster. The townsite was organized as a borough on November 4 that year by act of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. On July 1, 1830, it became an unincorporated township within Berks County when it was merged into that county. On January 3, 1848, Dickinsonamely elected George Swayne (1807-1875) mayor for his second term effective February 15th and until March 14th inclusive; also elected school board members: Aldermen Gertrude Armstrong (1st), Charles Crouse (2nd), Fayette Dixon (3rd), Charles Kappenheimer (4th), Emanuel Levy (5th) and Edwin Mason; assessor James Laughlin; treasurer Amos Mockridge and trustees Robert Witherspoon (6th) and Simon Weisenthaler (7th). On May 10 of that same year he resigned due to sickness but continued to serve until his death on October 5 th . Mayor Swayne also raised money for much needed improvements to Conestoga Road which soon became Pennsylvania's most improved road system ever! He will be remembered as one of Pennsylvanias' earliest modern mayors!. In 1850 Samuel Woolley built two grist mills – one on High Street between Second Presbyterian Church and First Baptist Church & one downstream on Trout Run Creek just south of what is now Third Presbyterian Church - these mills remain today (& are still operated by woolley family descendants). It should be noted that only 3% or less of all historically significant properties in this municipality have been preserved through perpetuation efforts... thus preserving almost all aspects & history associated with this once thriving community while nearly all other properties have been plundered or abandoned over time!

The first settler in what is now Pottstown was George Washington who arrived there in 1795 with his family for safety reasons following the French and Indian War. He built a cabin on the current site of Main Street which he named "Newburgh." The village grew quickly after Washington's arrival as people flocked to live near him and young children would go out into the surrounding woods to collect ticks from animals. By 1800, Newburgh had become an important trading post with goods coming from all around Pennsylvania including Baltimore through traders such as John Hunt who operated a store at Newburgh until 1827. During this time, one of the most important aspects of life for settlers in Susquehanna Valley was milling flour which allowed them to provide their families with food during tough times. At first flour was ground into meal or oatmeal but soon it became clear that this process could not keep up with demand so mills began producing refined products such as sugar, soap, candles and other household items such as kerosene lamps (which were invented in Pottstown). By 1830 many residents had moved away from Newburgh due torising costs associated with living close to a busy mill while others decided to remain because they saw opportunities available for business within commuting distance from Philadelphia or Lancaster. In 1836-37 John Denton opened what is now known as Denton's Mills on West Market Street which became one of the largest flour mills ever established west of the Alleghenies River. Denton’s Mill produced nothing less than US$10 million worth of flour each year between 1840-1850 alone! During these years various entrepreneurs developed businesses within commuting distance including Edward Smith who ran a tannery on North Fourth Street; Elijah Howe who ran an ice cream parlor on South Fourth Street; Averill Dickinson who started manufacturing boots at his home on Third Avenue; John Sutter who started building homes along Second Avenue – all indicative of how rapidly industry was moving westward during this period (and why it is often called “the Belle Epoque”). Inexpensive transportation options led some people to move further eastward into what are today Delaware County or even PA but those same factors – inexpensive transportation options – were responsible for helping develop industries like shoe factory at Easton where shoes were made by hand until World War II; pottery studio at Allentown where pottery was created using local clay without any modern equipment; textiles studio at Bethlehem where raw materials were brought overland from Europe; brewery at Pottsville where beer was brewed using water drawn directly from wells…the list goes on! With technology advancing throughout history new methods have been developed for manufacturing products making today’s world much different than when George Washington lived here more than 200 years ago!
