The Army deployed gift history in Pottstown, Pennsylvania began in the early 1800s when soldiers from the Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry Regiment were stationed in the area. One of the first unit to deployment was the 1st Battalion, 14th Regiment of Infantry on November 25, 1814. The battalion landed at Yorktown on December 17 and fought in the battles of Yorktown and Malvern Hill. They also served as guards for General George Washington during his stay at Valley Forge. On January 6, 1815, a detachment of soldiers from Company C, 4th Infantry Regiment arrived in Pottstown and set up camp near Main Street and Northampton Avenue. This company was later redesignated as Company G and discharged on February 3, 1815. On that same day, a detachment of soldiers from Company F (6th Infantry) arrived in Pottstown and set up camp near South street and Easton Avenue. This company was later redesignated as Company H (7th Infantry). These companies were disbanded on October 9, 1816 when their respective regiments were consolidated into one regiment under command of Colonel John Starkweather. In 1830-1831 two detachments of troops from Captain Samuel Noyes’ 5th Cavalry Regiment barracks were stationed here for a period of six months while they underwent training maneuvers at Camp Chase Barracks outside Philadelphia. These troops consisted mainly of men fresh out of college who had volunteered to serve their country during this time period under President James K. Polk’s administration which was ending with Andrew Johnson’s presidency. On Thursday nights from 1830 until 1860 there was "Live Auction" at First Baptist Church on Market Street (now known as 2nd & 3rd Streets). This event allowed farmers and their families access to live animals/poultry/livestock not usually available for sale or purchase without being auctioned off! The proceeds went towards supporting local churches during these difficult times due to funding shortages caused by lack of fundraising capabilities! The Live Auction also raised money for school supplies for students and other needy causes! However,...the event didn't stop there...on Thursdays until 1860 all manner of crafts were available for sale including dolls (yes really), dolls' houses (still popular today), quilts etc., many items still being sold today! Not only did this provide needed income but it also showcased some amazing art work created by our citizens!! Pottstown is a small town in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Allentown-Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pottstown is located on an fertile plain between two mountain ranges and has been a center for agricultural production for centuries. The community's name comes from Pottsville Township in Westmoreland County where early settlers were farmers. The first people to live in what is now Pottstown were Algonquian-speaking Pennsylvanians who migrated from northern Canada around 1000 AD. They built wigwams along the Susquehanna River and became known as "The Potters." In 1682, English colonists named William Bradford settled in what is now Pottstown and founded Wilkes-Barre (now Scranton). Bradford had come overland from England and heard about rich land downriver that he could purchase with his share of gold pulled out of the ground by Native Americans. He and his family soon started farming here, naming their farm "Pottstown" after one of his brothers who was then living near Philadelphia. After several years of heavy farming, Bradford decided to move back eastward to America because he found it harder to get good food prices than back home in England. He returned to England in 1686 but left behind many artifacts including a pottery wheel and some dishes used by Queen Anne I during her visits to America – these are still displayed at Pottstown's historical museum today! In 1795–96, when Pennsylvania was created as a new state following the American Revolutionary War, Pottstown became its capital city due to its strategic location midway between two important military posts on both sides of the Susquehanna River estuary – this made it ideal for government activity due to its easy access to goods and people needed only a few miles away for transportation or trade purposes! In 1853–54, when Congress passed legislation creating Allentown as an incorporated municipality within Lehigh County (the same county that includes modern day Paxton), Pottstown joined forces with other nearby communities such as Bethlehem (then called Easton)and Johnstown (then called Northumberland)to form what would eventually become known as the Lehigh Valley Railroad Company! This railroad helped contribute significantly to economic development throughout much of central Pennsylvania during the 19th century; today it remains one of America's most popular tourist destinations thanks largely to its scenic rail system which runs through much of northwestern Pennsylvania! During World War II, local industries produced munitions such as warplanes and tanks; moreover, many residents worked within local government agencies providing important services during wartime like social welfare programs or housing developments!
