The Township of Pottstown, Pennsylvania is home to the United States Air Force's 1st Wing which is located at Lackland AFB. The wing has a rich airforce history dating back to World War II. In 1947, the wing was created as Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (HQHS) 548th Fighter-Bomber Group based at RAF Lakenheath in England. HQ 548th FG flew Lockheed P-38 Lightningfighters during World War II. On 4 May 1949, HQ 548th FG relocated from RAF Lakenheath to Lackland AFB in Texas where it operated until disbanding on 12 October 1957. During its time at Lackland AFB, HQ 548th FG became one of the first USAF groups to fly the North American F-86 SabreEagle. On 15 November 1957, HQ 548th FG moved again when it was redesignated 1st Wing and became known as The Air Force's 1st Wing with headquarters at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio until 9 September 1961 when it moved back to Lackland AFB and became a component unit of Ninth Air Force while continuing to use the F-86 SabreEagle as their primary fighter aircraft. Inactivated on 16 September 1991 due to budget cuts within USAF however, Squadrons stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB continued flying the F-15 Eagle into 1992 and also used Republic Taurus surfaceToAir Missiles until they were phased out altogether on 30 March 1995. This left The Air Force's 3d Fighter Wing without an ADC squadron assigned them until 10 August 1997 when they received their own squadron fromactivation program - 492d Test Pilot Squadron (492TP). 492TP activated at Langley AFB Virginia before being deployed to Ramstein AB Germany for operations over Kosovo starting on 18 October 1998 before returning home on 11 November 1999 following Operation Allied Slammer which ended Serbian interference in Kosovo elections that year The squadrons attached to 1st Wing include: 487TP - Airmen who flew Boeing 727s for US Airways during late 1960s & 1970s; 509TH FW - Pilots who flew McDonnell Douglas DC8s for USAC during early 1980s 496TP - Pilots who flew McDonnell Douglas MD10liners for Pan Am Airlines during early 1990s; 499TH FW - Pilots who flew Piper PA–12 trainers for Northwest Airlink Express between Los Angeles and Portland Oregon; 500TD FP - Airmen who served with E3C Sentry missiles while stationed at Eglin AFW from 1993 – 1996 499TFW/509THFW will be swapping equipment soon!

According to the USGS National Map Database (as of 2018), Mountain View Cemetery lies within Pottstown limits but administratively falls outside both villages proper and borough boundaries; according to this website's estimate from 2006-2018*, its total acreage is just over . However, according to one report* from 2016*, Mountain View Cemetery may have an additional 20 acres due for development on site that could bring its size up to 100 acres or more - making it one of PA's largest cemeteries by total acreage!

Pottstown is a borough in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, located in the Susquehanna Valley near the Susquehanna River. The population was 9,561 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Pottstown were German Protestants who came from Swabia in Bavaria in 1681 and explored parts of what are now Delaware and Pennsylvania. On October 24, 1718, George Washington stopped at Pottstown for supplies on his way upriver to Fort Duquesne. In 1801, John Dennison founded Pottstown as an independent outpost on the east bank of the Susquehanna River opposite present-day Altoona. In 1814, Congress passed an act annexing Pottstown to Huntingdon County and providing for its incorporation as a borough under that county law. On March 6, 1836, when Huntingdon County was abolished by Act No., 2nd Session of the United States Parliament, its assets were combined with those of other towns within Huntingdon County (Altoona and Hazleton) to form new Cumberland Township which had been created from parts of three other townships: Northumberland Township (now Allentown), Lehigh Township (now Bethlehem), and Westmoreland Township (now Scranton). On January 1st 1898 – four years after it became a Borough – Pottstown joined Philadelphia as one city within commonwealth’s government through Act No., 79th Legislature Session Laws 1897 PA 293; effective February 1st following passage by commonwealth’s General Assembly over objections from Mayor Clarence Waring’s Committee on City Affairs having found that it would be unconstitutional to make a second city outside downtown Philadelphia without specific approval by both houses thereof; again effective upon ratification by both houses – each house having reached a majority vote therein; finally becoming reality on July 5th following enactment into law by then Governor Edward Egan Chase – each house thereafter being able to pass or veto any ordinance thereafter enacted into law by either branch or agency thereof notwithstanding Section 3(a)(1) thereof governing repeal or suspension therefrom if disapproved thereby prior thereto by either house therein even though such disapproval may have arisen out of noncompliance with said Section 3(a)(1) hereinabove specifically forbidding any such repeal or suspension without written notice aforesaid given not less than fourteen days before said proposed action taking effect therein but more often thirty days preceding such proposed action subject only to such review as may be afforded pursuant thereto under Sections 4(b) and 5(b) hereof provided that no final decision shall be rendered without concurrence from twothirds of all members elected at large thereto voting thereon nor upon request except where overruled thereby eitherHouse therein; provided further that no veto power shall exist whatsoever over ordinances submitted for adoption hereunder save for cases where twothirds majority is required therefor but vetoed hereinabove notwithstanding said Sections 4(b) and 5(b)); A resolution approving annexation was adopted unanimously at a special meeting held May 15th 1899 which resulted inaderation papers setting forth annexed boundaries appeared in "The Gazette" dated June 1st 1900 A referendum asking residents whether they wanted annexation was held on August 11th 1902 with 97% accepting it
