By 1920 there were only 6 residents living in Plum- borough had grown to over 100 residents by 1930 with an agricultural store still being operated along Main Street in downtown."

Plum, Pennsylvania is a town in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,872 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The first settler in Plum was Nicholas Clements who arrived in 1786 and named it after his farm in New Hampshire. A post office called Plum was established in 1802, and remained in operation until 1903. Pine Creek flows through Plum and forms the town's southern border. In addition to Pine Creek, other significant waterways include Big Run Creek and White Sands Creek. The Friends Meeting House which stands on North Main Street today is built from a log cabin that was used as a meeting hall for the Friends congregation from 1834 to 1865 when it moved to nearby Uniontown. The current building replaced an earlier one that burned down in 1868 during a firefight between local militia and Native Americans protesting land seizures by settlers. According to the 2000 census there are 2,872 people living in Plum including 573 households of which 39% are occupied by college students or working professionals; 59% have no children under the age of 18 living with them; 25% are elderly citizens over 65 years old; 6% are unemployed residents; 3% live below poverty line while 14% identify as either “not affiliated with any religious group” or unaffiliated with any religion at all
