At that time, fresh-roasted coffee was considered an important symbol of quality and refinement. In 1916, The Daily Table moved to larger quarters at Sixth and State Streets in Plum and became known as The News Café. In 1933, Dutch Bros., Inc., located at Seventh Street and Chestnut Avenue in Plum, purchased The Daily Table and reopened it as the Holland Coffee House under the name Holland Plaza Coffee House & Restaurant. Dutch Bros.' ownership of the building lasted until 1971 when it was sold to Mrs. Betty Jo Day for use as a daycare center. Today, Holland Plaza is home to many different businesses including several restaurants including Waffle House (which is still open), Bottega Italiana (formerly Quesadillas Mexican Cafe), Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen (formerly Fat Tuesday's Pizza), Starbucks Reserve Roastery Jakarta Java Cafeteria (), Yorkie's Eatery (), Black Angus Steakhouse (), Papa John's Pizza ($) throughout its various incarnations since 1933; however one signature restaurant has remained constant: Holland Plaza Coffee House & Restaurant which serves up freshly made Americano coffee with all natural sugar free syrups and house-made bread products daily from 5am - 10pm

Some notable landmarks include the Post Office building which served as both a storefront office for local businesses during World War II before being replaced by contemporary architecture; main street which still contains several original shops including hardware stores, grocery stores and feed yards; Masonic Lodge #2 where politics played an important role during early Plum community development; "Olde Stone House" where residents used to gather around their fireplaces on chilly winter evenings while listening to tales told by old men from earlier days; "Masonic Temple" now home to Heritage Hall Museum & Library - an interactive educational museum showcasing historical Plum Community artifacts dating back seventy years; Pioneer Cemetery which contains graves of various pioneer settlers who lived in or near Plum during this time period; as well as Reverend John Hargrave's Schoolhouse which served students from grades Pre-K through 12th grade for many years until it burned down in 1978; Asbestos Mine Journal Building constructed in 1938 within walking distance of Maple Lawn Elementary School); finally, "King Philip's Mines" State Historic Site where visitors can explore black gold mining techniques used prior to surface mining operations starting up across Pennsylvania circa 1800 A.D.; all of these attractions together make up what is often called "the heart of rural Altoona."
