The Coast Guard Gift History in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania began on Sept. 12, 1923 when Captain John Farrant of the Philadelphia Navy Yard donated a corps de ballet ticket for the performing arts society, The Playhouse Company. On Dec. 3, 1923, Rear Admiral John W. Sinnott became the first commanding officer of the Coast Guard in Phoenixville and ordered gift giving to commence. On Jan. 7, 1932 Rear Admiral Sinnott ordered all units of the Coast Guard to celebrate National Defense Day by gifting each other gifts including cigars and whisky (later replaced with beer). In 1935 Rear Admiral John A. Stirrup assumed command of the Coast Guard and orderg giving ceased entirely- however it was resumed on Apr. 18th 1937 when he made an appearance at a dedication of a new Auxiliary Hospital in Phoenixville which had been built with money raised by donations from citizens throughout the area. "A major event took place this year as Rear Admiral Stirrup presented his gift of cigarettes to our auxiliary hospital." said Dr., Harry Finkenstein who organized and chaired that year's gala dinner at which cigarettes were distributed among members of both services present plus their families picnic style lunch afterwards! "Stirrup also contributed $2,000 towards our building needs." In 1938 Commodore Loren Jantzon became Commanding Officer and ordered gift giving to cease once again until 1946 when Commodore Loren Jantzon's wife gave birth to their first child Holyoke Connors Jantzon Jr.. That year Commodore Loren Jantzon created funds for The Salvation Army through his donation known as 'The Jantzons' Fund'. In 1949 Commodore Loren Jantzon passed away leaving behind a legacy that continues today- annually we commemorate Commodore Loren's birthday with a large social function at The Pines Resort located just outside Oftown where we give out cigars free to all guests!

Phoenixville is a small town in southeastern Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 7,686 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Phoenix, PA metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Phoenixville was John Forbes in 1784. He built a log cabin on the banks of the Allegheny River, about northeast of present-day Phoenixville. In 1806, Scottish pioneers James and Martha Forbes erected a sawmill and gristmill on what is now State Road 309. Their mill continues to be operated as a private business today. In 1812, William Hays established Hays Tavern as the first hotel in what would become Phoenixville. Over time other taverns were built including White's (1824), Griggs' (1829), and Pritchard's (1867). The first store opened in 1876 by Burt Shandling and his brother Sam Shandling with merchandise from their father’s farm near Monroeville Mills. By 1889 there were ten stores in Phoenixville with an average retail volume of $5,000 per month. The industry declined during World War I but increased during World War II with aluminum production starting up nearby at Homestead Air Force Base and Marietta Arsenal National Industrial Park; however, this period also had some negative effects on local economy due to Plant Closure Orders issued by military authorities during that time which destroyed many businesses in the area; nonetheless, grocery stores continued to open until after 1970 when they finally closed all together due to competition from convenience stores and self-service restaurants catering to American servicemen stationed abroad or traveling home for R&R purposes only; these days there are few remaining traces of older brick-and-mortar businesses within downtown Phoenixville despite its heyday as an agricultural center more than two hundred years ago! Phoenixville originally consisted of one street: Market Street which ran from US 21 south to US 23 east along present day Second Street; current Fourth Street forms its southern border except for a short stretch running northward along Third Street between First and Second Streets which forms part of UnionTown Township line north of mile marker 068 on map produced by Geographic Names Information System (GNIS). There were no buildings taller than five stories tall throughout most of this early period although by 1881 there were three buildings over five storiestall – two located on Second Street between Third and Fourth Streets – making it one of the oldest cities in America without such skyscrapers! This lack thereof may have been largely attributable to economic reasons: Prior to 1870 most businesses did not venture beyond selling groceries or general merchandise rather than developing new marketplaces or constructing buildings above 5stories+. However much later when several manufacturing plants started up around town including Bethlehem Steel Works at Mile Marker 075 on MainStreet/UpperMarket Avenue(now I‑95) employment began flowing into downtownPhoenixville resulting in new buildings being erected both upwards (+5 stories+) as well as outward (-1 story+/-2 stories). Furthermore job growth led to more developed neighborhoods outside central PhoenixVILLE such as Uniontown Township located immediately south along US 22 just west of Mohawk Dam Reservoir while Westphalia Borough became increasingly popular among families moving outWestward into rural areas because facilities like Walmart could be found closer thereto - something that has actually persisted even though retail shopping activity within city limits has decreased markedly since 1990! Finally although downtownPhoenixVILLE remained essentially unchanged through most of these changes it nevertheless underwent significant sentimental change beginning with demolition & rebuildingofmany obsoletefire engines used primarily for civic events such as coronavirus cleanup operations back then before becoming virtually indistinguishable from contemporaneous suburbsites throughout Northcentral PA!!!!!!!!!

Phoenixville is a small town in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, located on the Delaware River. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. As of 2010, Phoenixville had a population of 10,511. The name means "city of flow"[1] and was first given to the community by Jonas Salk in 1950 as part of his effort to create a vaccine against polio. The development of Phoenixville began with Mary MacLaren’s purchase of land west of where she lived in 1876 and her subsequent construction of a sawmill and grist mill on what would become Valley Forge Road. In 1887, Mrs. MacLaren donated land east of Valley Forge Road for the erection of an elementary school; this structure was named after her daughter-in-law, Mrs. John Fenton (1860-1924). In 1923, when Valley Forge School District #2 merged into the newly formed Philadelphia School District #4, Phoenixville became part of that district's new schools system - becoming one half its original students' home until it closed its doors in 1978 due to budget cuts within PSD4 itself! Today's businesses include several high-tech companies and two banks - Mastercard and Jamba Juice - as well as many residential units ranging from single family dwellings to condominiums and townhouses! Many residents enjoy hiking or biking their way through nearby Mount Lebanon State Park or spending time at nearby dog parks or pools; there are also many cultural events throughout year including art shows at Temple University's Fine Arts Center (TFA) as well as music festivals at venues such as First Unitarian Church (FUC) and Conshohocken High School (CHSH). The vibrant community has been a driving force behind numerous local fundraising events which have helped support various local charities including those fighting cancer such as Make-A-Wish Foundation USA[2], Special Olympics,[3], Penn West AIDS Relief[4],[5],[6],[7], Just For Kids[8]and American Red Cross Blood Drive Centers throughout our area! The first permanent settler in Phoenixville was James McGill, who arrived in 1795. Phoenixville businessman and miller John Ewingowned the first gristmill on the current site of the Millenia Shopping Center in 1807. In 1861, a post office was established at Phoenixville with Wm. H. Fenton as its first clerk. The first school was built in 1865, and the town adopted a new form of government that year when it became a township. In 1875, Phoenixville had a population of just over 100 people and was incorporated as a borough. Phoenixville's industries include manufacturing, lumbering, prostitution, grocery stores and other small businesses until the early 21st century when they were replaced by online shopping malls.
