Norristown is a city in and the county seat of Norristown Township, in Kane County, Illinois. The population was 34,387 at the 2010 census. In recent years however much industry has moved away from downtown Norristown towards suburban areas outside the city limits following aggressive real estate development combined with difficulty attracting companies to downtown after passage of rules discouraging investment within city limits during times of high crime rates or economic downturns.
