This vessel became known as The Methodist Mastiff, or “Moses” for its long mast and large sails (pictured below). The ship continued serving as a church organist and choir director until it sank off shore on Catawba Lake several years later (pictured right). The next Marine Gift that arrived in Nanticoke was a small tugboat called Annihilator which was donated by Mrs. Alonzo Crouse in 1924 (shown below). Annihilator served as both a local ferry service and dock shuttle between Pemaquid Marina on the mainland and Nanticoke Harbour. Nanticoke is a small town in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,482 at the 2010 census. It is the second-most populous municipality in Berks County and the most populous of nine townships that make up the borough of Pittsfield. The name Nanticoke comes from "New Netherland" and means " land of milk and cheese." The first settlers were Dutch immigrants who came to what is now Berks County in 1682. They named their new settlement after one of their own: Nicholas Mupper (1638-1712). In 1718, Captain John Smith's party passed through Nanticoke on their way to found Pittsfield Township. When they reached its limits, they reorganized themselves as a township which they still call Pattison Township. In 1821, when Pittsfield was organized as a borough, Nanticoke became part of that community. On July 1, 1847, it became a village when it voted to become an incorporated place under the laws of Pennsylvania by an overwhelming vote with over two-thirds of the residents supporting incorporation. On October 15th 1905 night six people died when an oil pipeline burst near Nanticoke; this event greatly increased gas prices and made national headlines because it underscored the dangers associated with pipelines. On November 20th 1935 during World War II GermanLuftwaffe bombers bombed Nanticoke; both buildings in town were destroyed but no injuries resulted due to flying debris or flames traveling through windows into homes nearby which fortunately did not catch fire The population peaked at 9300 on December 12th 1951 due largely to post-war programs such as agricultural resettlement following crop failures around Great Britain. However by 1970 there had been almost gradual declines until enumeration at 5497 on 2000 Census arrived at a total population decrease to 4997 since then with dwindling economic opportunities leading to increasing poverty rates among those left behind including high school dropouts and recent out-of-state migration . Today there are only about 350 residents remaining within boundaries defined by Ruppert Park Tavern & Dairy Queen located off Route 422 east of town center

It was founded in 1799 by George Washington and his brother James Nanticoke. One of the most significant events to occur in Nanticoke occurred on July 4, 1814 when Commodore John Rodgers burned his ship USS Constitution near Nanticoke Inlet after an unsuccessful attempt to capture her during the War of 1812. The burning of the Constitution helped start a local tradition that has continued to this day - every Fourth of July, people from throughout Butler and Clearfield counties come together to burn an American flag at Inlet.
