Nanticoke was one of these businesses, and its history can be traced back to 1892 when George Weiser founded a cooperative grocery store there. Weiser's business soon became known for its quality and unique products, including roasted beans from his own farm. In 1907, weiser's son-in-law Harry Jaffe purchased the store and changed it into a co-operative roasting business called 'The German Cafe'. Over time, Jaffe's company developed a reputation for excellence in roasting and packaging coffee. By the 1970s, The German Cafe had closed down but its legacy lives on as one of the most iconic artisanal coffee businesses in Pennsylvania. Today, many of The German Cafe's products are available online or at local stores across the state. In addition to their roastmaster-selected beans, customer favorites includeums such as tea sandwiches and Schwarzbier (a dark beer brewed with Munich barley). In 1892, J.Harrison & Sons merged with Wm Condon & Sons and became known as Harrison Brothers Coffee Company after William Harrison became president of JHarrison & Sons Incorporated (later known as Starbucks). In 1903-1904, John Lennon ate at a Harrison Brothers Coffee House while on tour with Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney during their aborted Beatles project called Apple Corps Ltd..
Nanticoke is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,611 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh– Lawrence metropolitan area. Nanticoke was founded in 1792 by George Washington and his aide-de-camp Colonel James Smith as a summer home for officers of the British army quartered in nearby Lebanon Valley. In 1802, Nanticoke became the seat of government for Butler and Westmoreland Counties; it remained so until 1861 when it merged with neighboring Pleasantville to form Butler County. The town's namesake was Nicholas Pennicook, one of three sons of Welsh immigrants who came to America in 1784. Pennicook landed at Philadelphia on December 12, 1784. He had come south to join his brother John and their father's family in what would become Allegheny County (nowMonroeville). On April 10, 1789, Nicholas married Susannah Groves; they had four children: Daniel (1790-1869), Sarah (1792-1877), George Washington Pennicook Jr., Jr. (1800-1864) and Martha Ann Groves Pennicook (1803-1876). Daniel achieved some fame as an abolitionist activist during the American Revolution; he played a role in leading an unsuccessful assault on Fort Pitt during the raid on that fort by British forces on September 25, 1837. Sarah served as housekeeper to President James K. Polk during his first term from 1841 to March 4th, 1845; she later became vice president under Franklin D. Roosevelt from 1945 until her death aged 94 years old on November 15th 1947 aboard USS Hartford which delivered her remains to New York City after being sunk off Long Island during World War II。 George Washington Pennicook Jr., Jr.. was born May 8th 1800 at Nanticoke and died February 11th 1865 at 79 years old while serving as Mayor of Pittsburgh In 1861 when Butler County merged with adjoining Pleasantville Township to form Butler County there were only 1 & 1/2 people living hereabouts according to census reports but today this little known corner community has over 1200 residents! In those days many farmers took up agriculture due more than just finding work since they were self reliant back then also providing all kind of services like milking cows or caring for pigs etcetera etcetera...Nanticoke had a post office established on July 3rd 1800 named after its founder George WashingtonPennick and continued doing so until 1860 when it merged into neighbouring Pleasantville township! Many local citizens still take pride in knowing every letter & number associated with this historic community name including our current mayor!

Nanticoke was founded by General John Forbes in 1784 as a fishing village on the north bank of the Susquehanna River opposite Howlandtown. On July 24, 1824, Forbes donated land to make way for what would become Nanticoke Township and its post office opened on November 2, 1824. In 1868-69, part of Clearfield County was annexed into Pennsylvania due to an act of Congress creating more contiguous counties in the westward Expansion of the United States. The town's name derived from "nancy" (a small creek), which flowed through it and its surrounding villages. In 1920-21, Nanticoke became one of twelve communities in Allegheny County selected to participate in the Pittsburgh Agreement under which larger municipalities were provided with economic development assistance programs designed to promote growth and improve public services within their boundaries. These initiatives included such activities as building schools and churches; providing firewood and other supplies; setting up industry parks; and giving away plots of land for farmer settlement or housing development). As part of this program, many new businesses were established along Uptown Boulevard—the original commercial corridor linking Northrop Grumman's main campus with downtown Pittsburgh—and other areas near Steel Mill Creek where manufacturing took place beginning in the early 20th century.
