In 1829, Company A became part of Company H and served in the Mexican-American War under Colonel John C. Fremont. After the war, Company A returned to Pennsylvania and resumed its military service under Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer during World War I. In 1919, Company A was redesignated as Battery D of The 1st Regimentof Artillery and remained stationed at Philadelphia until 1952 when it moved to Murrysville to become part of Fourth Army Ammunition Arsenal Battery No. 464th Artillery Regiment (NRAG). Today, Fourth Army Ammunition Arsenal Battery No. 464th Artillery Regiment (NRAG) is one of only a few remaining companies from World War II that still exist intact across America and is based in Harrisburg PA along with other veteran units from artillery batteries from all over America including: Third Armored Cavalry Battalion; Seventh Field Artillery Battalion; First Infantry Division Reserve Battalion; Ninth Airborne Division Reserve Battalion; Fifth Street Ranger Battalion . This act authorizes $700 million dollars to be spent on national defense initiatives such as armor acquisition programs; deploying new soldiers and marines; expanding research into aircraft identification technology; increasing contracting opportunities for state-owned companies; and supporting counter-terrorism activities worldwide through DOD's Overseas Contingency Operations Branch (OCOB).
