In 1834, the Catrons sold their business to Amos Beecher and his brother-in-law Ebenezer Morse. The Beechers ran the store for over 40 years until it was bought by John Fritsche in 1916. After Fritsche's death, the business passed through several owners before it was acquired by Harry Potter and Frank Capp in 1951. Murrysville is a small town in McKean County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Murrysville is part of the Allentown-Easton-Mifflin metropolitan area. The first European settlers in what is now Murrysville were John and Mary Morse who arrived on horseback from Maryland in 1786. They founded a small trading post near where the current community stands. The Morrises built a log cabin on their family farm which still stands today. In 1818, John Morse's grandson, Benjamin Morse, erected a two-story stone building on his family farm that served as the town courthouse until 1898. In 1840, when the Susquehanna Railroad was completed through McKean County and began service to Allentown, Benjamine Morse donated land to build the railroad station northwest of town. This station became known as "Merrill Station" after Benjamin Morse's son-in-law and successor as owner of the property. The original village center was located east of present day Murrysville on an island in Beaver Creek that was created by damming Beaver Creek for irrigation purposes. The center had four stores, one blacksmith shop and two churches (Stroud Methodist Church and First Baptist Church). A schoolhouse also stood in this village before it moved to its present location across Beaver Creek from downtown allentown about 1935/36 for use as an Allentown Municipal Airport hangar during World War II when nearby Wright Field had all but closed down due to bombing raids by Japan however much later it reverted back to its original location within Allentown limits becoming part of murrysvillegroup@aol dot com web site On July 1st 1927 there were only 5 people living in Murrysville when they welcomed their new pastor Rev H C Weems with open arms following his sermon preached at Zion Lutheran church west of town called "A New beginning." Murrysville is a small town in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,871 at the 2010 census. Murrysville is located on the southern border of Butler County and is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. It was settled by Germans in 1789. The name "Murry" meaning "hollow" or "pit" in German, may beoriginally derived from this location. The first store in Murrysville was established in 1792 by George Muller and his brother Johann Muller. In 1803, John McCullough opened a grocery store that continued to operate until 1907. In 1868, JW McConnell established a sawmill and millinery business which continue to operate until 1966. In 1891, local doctor Drs Gorman and Funk founded the Murrysville Hospital which still operates today as an acute care facility with over 60 beds. In 1916-1917, murry's Volunteer Fire Company (Volunteers) fought several small fires including one that destroyed the home of local grocer James Hoyer on Main Street In 1932-1933, murry's Roman Catholic parishioners erected a 20 feet tall cross on Centre Avenue south of their church for Blessed Sacrament Parish No 1 which continues to stand today In 1946-1947, during World War II there were two important military engagements nearby when tanks drove through town Streets were closed off due to tank fire; however all streets reopened soon afterwards
Murrysville was founded by John Murrys in 1731. The first post office in the town was established in 1735. In 1802, the town of Murrysville merged with the township of Lancaster to form a new municipality. The original name of the municipality was "Lancaster Township."
