Mckeesport is a small town in Mckeesport Township, Pennsylvania. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. The area now called Mckeesport was first settled by Germans in the mid-1700s. In 1798, James McDonald purchased land here and began to build a log cabin. In 1802, he married Rebecca Frantz and started to grow crops and raise livestock on his property. In 1825, McDonald sold his land to John Dickson for $1,000. Dickson built a mill on the stream that flows through Mckeesport. He also founded the town of McKeesport in 1827. Dickson's Mill continued to operate until it was destroyed by fire in 1862. After the mill burned down, many German immigrants started farming here because there were no other places to live nearby. The first school in McKeesport opened in 1829; it was located near what is now civic center square. The first post office in McKeesport opened in 1830; it was located on Main Street between Second and Third Streets. It wasn’t until 1843 that McKeesPORT had its own railroad station which made transportation easier for residents and businesses! In 1865, McKeesporter became a part of the Allegheny County government when it was split off from Pittsburgh County .

Mckeesport is a small town in McKeansport Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 6,452 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The town was founded by Nicholas McGhee in 1795. It was named for John McKeen, 5th Baron Dunmore of Glencairn who had settled there in 1790. The first post office opened in 1824 and the first store was built in 1827. The town grew rapidly due to its location on the Susquehanna River and its access to transportation including canalboats and steamboats which transported goods traffic from Pittsburgh to nearby points such as Erie and Allentown. In 1868, a dam was constructed along the river creating an artificial lake that allowed for growth within the town limits; however, this water feature has since been removed and most of Mckeesport's current buildings date from after World War II when it became an agricultural community with many corn fields and dairy farms remaining today. In 1951, Mckeesport became home to two elementary schools: McKeesport Elementary School (now known as New Beginnings) and Bellefontaine Elementary School (now known as Keystone). In 1969, Bellefontaine merged with Pine-Lochrie Elementary School to form McClellan-Bellefontaine Middle/High School which remains one of Mckeeports only high schools today. In 2006-2007 the school district closed all but one middle/high school leaving students without any opportunities for education beyond 6th grade; however Keystone reopened in Fall 2007 using state funding to reopen under new name “New Beginnings” with special attention given towards providing more vocational training opportunities for future students than ever before allowing these students into 8th through 12th grades like other public schools do currently Mckeesport also has a rich history dating back many years prior to its establishment as a township; some of this can be found through research done on local historical societies or repositories where information about particular events or people can be found such as the Historical Society of Cumberland County located just east of McKeesports downtown core which contains over 50 registered items from various periods covering both pre-1801 up until 1923 when it closed due to lack of funding) . One important aspect that ties together all these different stories is that they are all connected through common characters or objects that have appeared throughout them all – either directly or indirectly – often multiple times! One example would be John McKeen namesake father who came over from Scotland during the Revolutionary War while still living in his homeland so he could help put down British forces below Fort Duquesne on September 11th 1775 & subsequent Battle which resulted in Quebec becoming part of Canada instead what we now know as Independence Day! After his service he returned home to start anew & startedingo business(s) hereabouts under his son Nicholas McGhee Jr who would keep expanding it until finally becoming 14 year old Nick Jr’s successor circa 1830 & starting building what eventually become our present day township government – following similar steps mentioned earlier albeit taking place over several decades!) . Another key character involved here is Nicholas Sr’s wife Margaret who not only played an important role early on (& helped run things side by side with her husband), she also left behind a lasting legacy via her four daughters whom continue running our township government even unto this day!(3) Lastly but certainly not least we have Abe Chalkhorn aka “Abejeff” aka simply “Abe” whose family did business dealings hereabouts long before developing their own railroad company serving parts of central PA until theirtownship merge into Beaver County effective July 1st 1906!) . From those few examples above it is easy enough see how much History has woven itself into our everyday lives here at present day!
