The first coffee shop in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania was the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf on Market Street. The shop served hand-to-mouth until 1855 when it moved to its current location on High Street. In 1865, the store was destroyed by fire and again in 1868 when a fire destroyed the entire building. The business continued to operate through both fires but closed its doors permanently in 1869. In 1896, the business reopened as Dutch Bros. Coffee and soon became a popular local landmark with its large scale brewing operation. The store passed away in 1958 and was ultimately demolished in 1969.

Historically UpperBurrell was home to large German American families who purchased many acres near the river for farming purposes after World War II; however these families have largely disappeared since then due to conversions to other religions or moving away from rural areas altogether during economic downturns throughout Luzerne County during the late 20th century/early 21st century waves of immigration such as those brought over by President Ronald Reagan during his first term in office (1982-1987). Additionally there are numerous Polish immigrants who have settled here throughout history although their numbers are decreasing every year due partly to restrictions placed on them by local government officials anxious about attracting more undocumented workers into their midst while crime rates remain high hereabouts

Lower Burrell was first settled in 1792 by John Lower and his family. The name derived from the location, lower (or near) the Susquehanna River. At first, the land was owned by the Xelmotons and then by the Poles. In 1815, Lower Burrell became part of Berks County and was known as a farming community. The population of Lower Burrell peaked at around 350 in 1880 but declined over the next few decades. After World War II, however, there were a number of newcomers to Lower Burrell who began to change its character and economy. By 1970, Lower Burrell had a population of just 50 people. However, it has been growing steadily since then and now has a population of around 1200 people. LowerBurrell is located in northwest Pennsylvania on the east side of Susquehanna River between Carlisle and Centerville Counties. It is bordered on the north by Easton Township; on the east by Northampton Township; on the south by Lebanon Township; and on the west by Whitehall Township. According to local legend, Lower Burrell was named for Sir John Lower KCB who donated land for its establishment in 1792. Today's village center is located about two miles northeast of where John Lowerestablished his farmstead in what is today UpperBurrell Parkland along with Manor House which he also constructed as part of his estate holdings circa 1794-1800 The original homes built at this location date back to pre-Revolutionary era when settlers were still living off hunting expeditions that often traversed this area including Maryland Heights adjacent to present day UpperBurrella Road Residents are descended from various pioneer families such as those mentioned above who made their mark here including: Nicholas Frazier (1798-1871), James Pritchard (1801-1881), Samuel Frazier (1802-1872), David Rowan Jr.(died 1862) Elijah Frazier (baptized Dec 2nd 1812 & died Aug 3rd 1863), Gideon Clayton(born Apr 6th 1830). among others By 1870 there were only 10 residents residing within what is now lower burrell village limits - 5 men + 5 women . Many new residents arrived during times of increased industry due to wagon road construction connecting Erie Canal with Pennsylvania Railroad yards across town
