Additionally, there will be muzzleloader demonstrations on January 9th from 2pm-3pm at Lackawanna Valley Museum; rifle takedowns on January 12th from 1pm-2pm at Keystone Arms Shop; and traditional shotgunning jams on Saturday evening from 7pm-8:30pm at The Gap Lodge (27 White Street). All events are free and opento all! And don’t forget about our annual Gun Show & Raffle benefiting our local non-profit organizations on Saturday October 5th from 10am-1pm at The Pavilion (7 Main Street). Lower Burrell is a small town located in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, in the southern part of the state. The population was 1,024 as of the 2010 census. It is located on the border of Lehigh and Northampton counties. The name Lower Burrell comes from two places: "Lobburgan" (a location near what is now Upper Burrell) and "Burrell" (the original landowners). The first settler in this area was James Burgess in 1792. In 1802, Abraham Burritt bought land here and laid out a township square. He named it after his father-in-law John Burton, who had settled nearby at Meadville in 1772. In 1825, Lower Burrell Township was established with a population of just six people. By 1830, it had a schoolhouse and some stores. In 1835, its post office became the first to be established within Lehigh County; it continued to serve until 1904. According to the 2000 census, Lower Burrell has an total area of , of which (or 99%) is land and (or 1% is water). It borders Northampton County on the east side; Lehigh County on the west side; and Bucks County to the south and east. Lower Burrell has a humid continental climate with hot summers and cold winters that often sees snowfall during winter months when temperatures plunge belowzero (-39 degrees Fahrenheit or -34 degrees Celsius). Average monthly precipitation ranged from April through November with much variation but totals averaging about 54 inches annually over that time period- almost all of it coming during summer months when rainfall rates are highest! Lower Burrell is a census-designated place (CDP) in Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,552 at the 2010 census. Lower Burrell is located along the Susquehanna River and is just south of the borough of Butler. The area that now includes Lower Burrell was first settled by Germans in 1784. In 1810, it was part of the Eden Township community of Easton. lower burrell post office was established on November 6, 1814, by order of George Washington as one of five post offices within Butler County to serve the townships east and west of Huntingdon Valley. In 1825, Lower Burrell became part of Easton Borough which had been formed from parts of Eden Township and West Allis Township. In 1868, portions were annexed to form Butler Township as well. The name "Burrell" originated with Capt John Burchill who lived near what is now known as Upper Burrell Creek and went by this nickname because he could not swim very well. The first mill in Lower Burrel started up in 1824 by Nicholas Ziegler and continued until 1865 when it stopped due to lack of customers. It was replaced by a gristmill built in 1863 by J P Byrne & Sons which still operates today as a grain elevator/grains business. A sawmill also operated here for about 20 years until 1906 when it too shut down due to lack of customers or competition from larger mills across the river at nearby Bradfordville. A smelter opened up here in 1912 but closed down again in 1916 after only a few months operations due to low demand from buyers outside Buffalo City limits (the city boundaries then extended all the way into Lackawanna County). A small coal mine opened up here around 1915 but closed down again soon afterwards due to high costs associated with extracting coal from these difficult earth formations including deep water trenches and extremely humid weather conditions during Operation Neptune's Spear – World War I – when gas lamps were created using coal mined here that would later be used throughout North America Thanks largely to Capt John Burchill who ran this mine - mining operations recommenced around 1922 after new owners found success extracting uranium ore outcroppings further upstream near where there are still some mines today (though mostly non-operational) Coal production peaked between 1923-1928 with an average annual output exceeding 200 metric tons but resumed decline thereafter due to other factors such as increased competition from oil shale projects thanks largely to amendments made during President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal which incentivized increased investment in coal production despite sporadic technological advances relative thereto.) After reaching its peak output sometime before 1951 however production began slowly declining again beginning about 1951; decreasing each year until coming off top marginal tax rates under President Reagan led finally total exhaustion through natural attrition starting about 1986 followed thereafter by abandonment etc.). There has been occasional minor revival activity over time but nothing consistent enough for an accurate count or analysis so far!
