The company was founded by two individuals who were interested in making better coffee than what most people were getting at their local grocery store. The early History of Lebanon Lebanon was founded on December 8th, 1784 by Scots-Irish settlers from County Antrim, Ireland as a result of the British Invasion of America (1775). Outnumbered and outgunned by Native Americans and American colonists alike, these refugees saw opportunity in what they called “the new world” – an opening they seized with both hands. By 1800, there were more than 1,000 Irish immigrants living in Lebanon – making it one of the largest Irish settlements in North America at that time.
