His father had landed in America on HMS "Pandora" when the British were attacking Philadelphia. The family soon moved to Huntingdon Manor where they established themselves as landowning proprietors and developed their estates into one of Bucks County's most important villages. They continued to play an important role in local politics until their death in 1801 - one year after they moved to Lansdowne. Lans Downey continued to be a thriving community through its early years and even attracted some of the biggest names in American industry such as Andrew Carnegie and George Westinghouse before becoming an incorporated Borough on February 1st 1801 with a population of just under 500 people including 25% women!Today, LansDowney continues to enjoy significant economic development due to its location within close proximity to major urban areas across bothPhiladelphia and Camden Counties!
