Lansdowne is a borough in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,627 at the 2010 census. It takes its name from Lansdowne Road in the town of Lansdowne Center. The first European to visit what is now Lansdowne was Capt. John Smith in 1718 and he named it for his friend, Admiral Sir George Somerset's estate at Lansdowne near Taunton, England (now part of Bath). In 1790 John Denny founded a flour mill here that still stands today and has been used to produce flour for many years. Lansdowne became an incorporated borough on July 1, 1853; it was one of the original townships of Philadelphia County. The original trustees were: Amos Norris (president), A.P. Butler (vice president), Wm Lyon (treasurer), Jno Cone (fiscal agent), Geo Biddle (Surveyor-at-Law) and Ephraim Burritt (judge). In 1865, during the American Civil War, General Robert Ewell commanded his Union army throughPhiladelphia County and into Bucks County before reaching Lebanon Valley where he destroyed several bridges over Little Roundabout Creek in order to enfilade Confederate forces retreating southward under Lt.-Gen Joseph Ewell's command from Mount Airy in South Bethlehem Township on July 12th 1865 - a significant event within the history of Philadelphia because this battle opened up new opportunities for troop movements through the city limits without being hindered by obstructions such as canals or rivers

Lansdowne is a borough in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 2,764 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Lansdowne was Isaac Brown who arrived in 1784. He and his family were among the early settlers of what would become Lansdowne Township. By 1813, there were five families living in Lansdowne Borough: one from England (John), two Germans (Johannes and Wilhelm), and three Irishmen (Patrick, Jerome and Cornelius). In 1815, John Kapp founded the first gristmill on the present site of Lansdowne Mills. In 1827, Moses Potter set up a saw mill on the east side of town. In 1830 Chester Hunt started a blacksmith shop and forge on Main Street near where Nanticoke Road now intersects West Second Street. A post office was established at Lansdowne in 1830; it remained in operation until 1907. At that time it was located at what is now Third Street and Park Avenue; it was moved to its current location after that year's Census when all townships were shifted to their present borders. In 1835, David Smedley built a log cabin on Ridge Road southeast of town for himself and his wife Esther Smedley; this became known as "The White House." A store opened in 1840 by Moses Potter with goods brought over by wagon from Wilkes-Barre Junction; this store remain open until 1906 when it closed due to lack of customers. An alley leading south from First Court south to Fourth Street served as an access road for horses pulling wagons between town limits north to York Factory or Bethlehem Steelworks eastward along I-81 or westward along Blue Mountain Railroad tracks running through central Lackawanna County - still extant today as Fifth Avenue North/. On Sunday evenings starting around 1800AD people would gather at First Court northeast corner lot before going into services meeting held upstairs Presbyterian Church since early1800’s with Rev Dr William Smith officiating priest/ deaconess officiating minister/orakelier conducted outdoors using standing pulpit which used only cobwebs today during Lent service weekdays & public recitals during weekdays church services
