If there is one thing that Lansdowne, Pennsylvania has in common with other towns in the Keystone State it is its love of coffee. The town was founded by German immigrants in 1795 and quickly became a center for coffee production. Coffee was important to the early settlers because it gave them a way to make money and provide their families with morning sustenance. Today, Lansdowne remains a major producer of coffee and continues to be an attractive place to live and work. The first mention of coffee being exported from Lansdowne comes from 1827 when Simeon Morse wrote about how good the beans were at the port of Philadelphia. By 1840, many local farmers had started cultivating coffee beans in northeastern Pennsylvania. By 1850, over 50% of all sales for roasted goods came from Lansdowne residents. Coffee production soon outgrew the town and a new factory was built on the banks of the Susquehanna River in 1865. This factory produced some of the best-quality cups of coffee known until today. Over time, however, larger companies began moving into town and competition for market share led to lower quality products being produced. In 1983, Trader Joe’s announced plans to open its first store in Lansdowne – marking what would eventually be known as “the end” for this iconic brand’s presence in this historic community. However, recent entrepreneur purchases have saved both Trader Joe’s store and old-fashioned roasting mill located within walking distance from each other – providing locals with access to delicious cupcakes made fresh daily!

In 1916, the Lansdowne Coffee Company relocated to its current location on Market Street in Lansdowne, PA Captain F.H. Lansdowne passed away in 1955 and Mrs. Gorman continued to operate the company until her death in 1960 In 1962, Captain F.H.'s widow's son, Lieutenant Colonel Harry J. Lansdowne took over the business operations and renamed it "LansdownE Coffee Co." The company has continued to grow and provide quality coffee products for people throughout central Pennsylvania since then
Lansdowne is a small town in Columbia County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 1,539 at the 2010 census. Lansdowne is home to Lansdowne High School and Lansdowne Presbyterian Church. The first settlers in what is now Lansdowne were Dutch farmers who arrived around 1710. In 1802, John Fenton purchased of land from the Iroquois Indians for $1 per acre. He named his new tract "Lansdowne." The town site was surveyed by George Washington in 1795 and built on top of a hill overlooking the Susquehanna River. In 1836, Isaac Basden donated to the community two tracts of land that would become its center: one north of the river between State Street and Market Streets and another south of Market Street between First Avenue and Second Avenue. Basden's donation formed what are now Basden Park and Basden Road. In 1854, Alexander Carson donated an addition to Lansdowne Presbyterian Church which became known as Carson Hall. This structure served as both church and school until it burned down in 1951; however, plans for reconstruction continue to this day. The town had 1 store in 1857 when it was joined with nearby West Scranton to form the new borough of Scranton (now part of Wilkes-Barre). In 1890, pieces of the demolished Hollywood Theater were incorporated into Lansdownse as part of a larger project called "Hollywood Park." That same year saw the opening of a post office at 204 Main Street which continued service until 1967 when mail service was discontinued due to budget cuts made by Governor Tom Corbett.. On July 15th 1907 residents obtained a charter from Columbia County for their own township which they called "LansDowne." On December 12th 1914 voters approved annexation by neighboring West Scranton Township (now Wilkes-Barre) under then Borough President James Ziegler's plan that would have united all three municipalities into one entity with more financial resources available! However this merger never took place because Ziegler resigned after only 10 months on the job due to health concerns.. According to unofficial estimate there are currently over 2,000 people living within 5 miles radius surrounding Lansdale
